I wouldn't say they were Punk in attitude anymore, they seem to be blissfully unaware that they now (due to the political label spectrum changing) represent the very establishment they claim too hate

nah, neither in their attitude or music itself

not a demerit against them per say but they really were never punk. still enjoy the hell out of their albums up to (and including) AI (new one wasnt bad either)

And Lydon's word is law, correct?

If Patti Smith or Tom Verlaine said the same thing, it still wouldn't make a difference that Green Day's music is derivative of punk, and up to a certain point in their career filed quite neatly along with bands like Screeching Weasel and The Queers.
