What do you mean by that, the first wave of Punk has been cliche, or the material that has been continued on after first wave. Do you think the Punk sound of the Sex Pistols is now cliche, or a bands e.g. Green Day is cliche?

btw it's one of my favorite blips. Almost everything was a blip, then later on there is a revival. Some revival bands are good others are not. Don't let Green Day cloud your judgement.

This is true.

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

This is the exact sentiments I have about you. Still I would like to know his opinion. You blurt your opinions out like you have diarrhea of the mouth, so don't be treating Chula like he's a second class citizen and he shouldn't have any opinions.

Anyways punk is irrelevant now. It was a youth culture movement that existed when big urban centers like London and New York had large inhabitants of urban white kids running around, rebelling against arena rock. Try finding that today. Grime and hip hop are the punk of today, punk is dead, no more, get with the times.
Wholeheartedly agree. Punk "rock" has always been about style over substance. One of the reasons there are no real sub-genres. (i.e. Surf punk is surf rock, but bands like Agent Orange had spikey hair so it was called surf punk. They have more in common with Dick Dale than Johnny Rotten). Not that there hasn't been innovation or novelty in punk's sound, but the unifying factor is political engagement (on levels ranging from Marxist to anarchist) and a rejection of most mainstream cultural and fashion trends. One of the most interesting things I've heard since the November elections (and I apologize for lightly introducing this here) is that punk rock, as counter-culture protest music, has a real chance of being relevant again. I've personally grown out of all but a few songs (Anti-Flag's Kill the Rich and No More Dead are still favorites), but it would be cool to see it again.

I grew up thinking The Damned were the first real punk band, but from the generally learned opinions in this thread it looks like they were about 2 years too late.

Final thought, haven't watched it yet, but there is a documentary called 'A Band Called Death'. I got soooo excited as I thought it was about the seminal Florida death metal band. It is not. I'll admit to be disappointed to the point of not watching it on purpose.

Edit: Is it just me, or is Chuck Schuldiner kind of man pretty?

Oh wow, want very badly. Looks like it's stuck in post-production though. Articles have been saying 'coming soon' since late 2015 from what I can tell...

And yes, Chuck was a handsome man. No shame in admiring the shred AND the locks.

My first thought whenever I see Death on festival posters and such, my first thought is "how the **** are they going to do it without Chuck Schuldiner???!?!" before I remember that a poor man's Bad Brains exists.

Well I guess it's to even the score, cause he take an awful lot of pop-shots for being the Led Zeppelin aficionado of MB.

Hey man, if you have evidence that Led Zeppelin didn't spark the Baroque period, he's all ears.
