Goofle11 I liked to hear your reasoning for why you think he is more talented.

I am really curious...

Of course I disagree, I'd say Kendrick is talented up to the point of lyricism/content which i just don't like and Biggie is more capable with, but barring those I say they're maybe matched, though I think Biggie did everything with such casual finesse whereas Kendrick doesn't come off as slick. I guess you could say he has more range but it seems more contrived to me.

I simply thing Kendrick is a better rapper. I love the way he delivers his lines. Neither are particularly complex but I think Kendrick has the ability to make it appear that he's delivering a great verse due to his flow/enunciation.

Yes, Biggie had a great flow and I am not saying he was trash, but I would rather listen to Kendrick.

Fair points...

Flow:
Biggie had one of the greatest flows by any mainstream rapper. Very slick, distinctive and natural. Kendrick has a okay flow... but it doesnt compare to Biggie's.

Lyrics:
While Kendrick lyrics are not immensely complex, he does dabble in alot of social issues and he uses alot of creative metaphors to illustrate these ideas. (I believe he also writes his own music)
Biggie's music (while good) was just gimmicky music that he didnt write. He dabbled in social issues as well but the bulk of his music is gimmicky. Kendrick makes similiar music as well but also talks about alot of other topics that normal mainstream rappers wouldnt. I think Kendrick has the edge over Biggie in this category.

Kendrick's creative metaphors is the main reason why he is so popular, flow and production aside which are his weaker points

So while Kendrick may be a better lyrist/songwriter, he is not better at deliverying his ideas. Also, its important to note that none of his music has yet to make the same iconic impact as Biggie's. So he is not on Biggie's level.

Aesop Rock hasn't made as big an impact as either on a mainstream stage so he can't be better.

and he isnt

biggies voice and flow were so other worldly that it puts him atop near everyone for me

i dont really consider social issues as a topic as puttin a rapper higher on my totem pole. i do appreciate creativity tho but how many ppl can listen to immortal technique for an hour without feelin taxed??

I don't care about what rappers talk about either. I do care how they talk about it though.

And Aesop is light years ahead of both.

For me it makes a difference because pretty much any rapper can make "gimmick" music..... at least Biggie was creative with his and made iconic songs that are held as classics today. I personally dont have a problem with gimmick music just as long as it is creative ex. Missy Elliott.

However, I think implementing social, political issues etc shows variety and artistic growth.

I think Kendrick incorporates them in ways that are either cliched or contrived personally, Biggie had moments where he brought light to the griminess of New York's poor black communities, though I guess that wasn't exactly a new point or anything.
