But best? There's no point naming a bunch of people who aren't the best, but are close in a best thread.

I did name the best. I Think those 2 are equally the best. And noone had mentioned Frusciante.

I know Hendrix is considered best guitarist of all time by most, and i only dissagree to say Frusciante because hes closer to me. I was not alive in the Hendrix error so i personally feel connected more to Frusciante even if he wasnt as inventive. I still say tho he plays with more emotion than Hendrix and def Zeplin. I like guitarists that keep it simple so people can still connect to it. (btw check out the Easily solo, one of his best with 5 guitar parts)

well Cobain is considered so good because hes the best rythym guitarist. So its hard to compare him to others normally.

Def zeplin? More emotion than Hendrix? You spelled era wrong. Hendrix had a fairly straightforward style. I disagree with you because you make stupid statements.

No one's gonna respect you for mixing up 2 completely different bands into one, so I wouldn't be trying to defend yourself. More or less redeem yourself.

Er...not really. And for the love of God, leave the guy alone. So he connects with John Frusciante's guitar playing moreso than he does with anyone else's. So what? Fack off.

ProggyMan 10-02-2007 07:19 PM

His style of guitar playing? He certainly didn't write straightforward songs but his style was nowhere near overly complicated.

complicated does not mean good...id think even you would realize that. he plays (in my opinion) with more feeling than any other. And half f his music was made while he was strung out on herion, which is incredible.

I just said his style wasn't very complicated.

Dr_Rez 10-02-2007 09:11 PM

Just found this video... YouTube - Life's A Bath

If you like him watch it, its sad tho.

I think thats adds to him being the best, overcoming all that, and making music throughout. Good music at that.

Yeah? And? So? What?

What does him not being a "complicated" guitarist have to do with anything?

sleepy jack 10-03-2007 12:20 AM

Because everyone knows the more complex something is the better it is. Prog logic is fail.

newjuke junkie 10-03-2007 04:11 AM

Jimi Hendrix
Eddie Van Halen
Tom Morello

In chronological order.

Frances 10-03-2007 04:16 AM

Oh get over yourselves already.

There is no "best" guitarist.
Different strokes for different folks and all that, or we'd all agree wouldn't we?

Actually the post should read "Who are your favorite guitarists?" Nobody can really say one is better than another because it's more of an opinion than fact.

You're being an arrogant jackass. I'm disputing that Henrdix has an overly complex style.

Be a little nicer about it and you wouldn't get in fights so much, thats all.

Were all on here to just have fun.

Note that nobody's really said anything about complexity aside from you. We're just naming off some of our favourite guitarists and you're basically going around telling people they're stupid because the guitarists they like don't play complex music.

ProggyMan 10-04-2007 12:43 AM

No I'm not. Rezz made a comment inferring that Hendrix's style was to complex and I disputed it. I was talking to Crowquill with the Arrogant Jackass part. To Rezz: This is a forum, people will argue with you. Get over it.

...when?

DeVicci 10-04-2007 12:00 PM

My two personal favorites are...

David Gilmour
Brian Carroll

Brian is probably better than David, but David has been a long time favorite. I have several of Brians albums (aka Buckethead) and I really like what this guy can do.

I know they may not be at the top of the list... but they are still my 2 fav's.

Right thar. :afro:

PerFeCTioNThrUSileNCe 10-04-2007 11:46 PM

My favorite's currently are:

Paul Gilbert - Crazy fast, in my opinion one of the best shredders.

Eric Johnson - possibly the most technically sound guitar player in the world.

Andy Timmons - slick. nuff said.

Joe Satriani - Not necessarily for his technicality, but I like the funky style.

Dino Cazares (sp?) - Divine Heresy is pretty sweet. His riffs are like a machine gun. Very solid player.

Adam Dutkiewicz - Just a solid playing style.

Michael Romeo - I've never seen sausages move so fast.

Yngwie Malmsteen - nuff said.

He doesn't really say or even imply that Hendrix had a complicated style anywhere in that paragraph. Definitely not enough to warrant you making a huge deal out of it.

I'm not even a prog fan anymore. It's not my fault you can't come up with a valid arguement yet keep on arguing.
