But they just a no-name indie band that did a few local gigs. Not to be contrary but I think it's ridiculous to say they're a late 60's band.

Black Sabbath were never an indie band, they were labeless until Warner picked them up.

Independent labels have been around since recorded music.

Wrong

Sabbath formed in 1966 and by 68/69 were regually playing across europe. They even regually played at the Star Club in Hamburg where the Beatles made their name.

Hardly a unknown local band.

@Urban: Alright they were pretty damned big. They still didn't release they're debut until the 70's. But you weren't disputing that I suppose.

Back then it wasn't uncommon for a band to spend 5 or 6 years touring before they got a record deal.

most definately. the 60's were full of people getting signed, bands touring, and fans rising everywhere!
