The Lilys are great, especially that album. They definitely shifted their sound more than any other shoegaze band. "A Brief History of Amazing Letdowns" is their last straightforward shoegaze album. "Eccsame the Photon Band" moved to straight ahead dream pop and eventually the moved on to alternative. Listening to "In the Presence of Nothing" and then "Everything Wrong Is Imaginary" makes it seem as if it's a totally different band. I wish they had stuck with the shoegaze for a while since they do it so well, but it's nice to see a band that's not afraid to do things completely different from what is expected.

I've already posted stuff about a few of these bands in my journal but here's a few bands I really dig:

This video is a bit distracting but in the best way possible

Seeing this thread I just remembered the band Blind Mr. Jones. I posted about their album Stereo Musicale (1992) in Albums You're Digging thread, I think. The album really captured me because it's kinda different from typical shoegaze. Beside solid guitar sound they also have a flute. It's refreshing how they use it and how it dives into that dense guitar noise and comes out on top of it. I also read that they were called Jethro Tull of shoegazing because of it.

^Yeah I remembered you posted something about that album before and I was intrigued. I keep forgetting to download that album but I guess I'll do it right now.

Fixed it for you.

Yeah the first two APOF albums were great, especially Out Of The Angeles. I didn't really like their last album Road Eyes though, it feels like a miscalculated attempt to break into the American market. It sounds a bit directionless and confusing at times. I'm still hoping they release another album like Out Of The Angeles.
