It's not a bad album, and it might be worth your while to pick it up at some point. It lacks a certain energy though. I like my metal to reach out and punch me in the face...and this just doesn't do that.

Thanks for the good advice guys - will consider your thoughts before clicking the "buy" button... I admit to being oddly intrigued by Death Magnetic, and it could well lead to a purchase... woulodn't mind filling out some of their back catalogue as well...

I would say it is worth a purchase, but just don't expect to be swept off your feet... albeit I really did like the day that never comes

I would download it from somewhere, but I am too afraid of having Lars emaling me some sanctimonious speech about how downloading is bad, and he will still a bass drum over my head if i try it again... Lars is nothing if not protective.

I am kinda hoping itd not just a rehash of their old style though - does it add any new elements at all to their sound or is it s total rehash, mine our past - fest?

Honestly...it's a rehash. And a weak one at that...

Ahhh, refreshing to hear an honest opinion! Band worship can be such a clouding influence on opinions!
