It's a list of 90's rock bands like the poster asked for and how do you know that the he knows all about Nirvana? Who cares if you don't like Midnight Oil - it's not a list for you.
I'm sorry I should really have checked with your personal tastes first I guess LOL!

Dunno but I've recently heard a band called Agnes Strange. 'Theme For A Dream' is from 1972 and it may fit the bill. Psychedelic prog?

umm.. i'm in love/lust with a girl i found on youtube about 4 years ago who likes metal but writes these amazingly melancholic instrumental guitar pieces - you can hear her metal influences in her note/chord choices; very discordant yet seems to unfold naturally.. i mean she is a ridiculously good song-writer and i don't know why she isn't more well-known except that she's pretty mysterious and disappears for years on end :S

but after all that - i can't actually tell you her name! i don't know it. on youtube she's called GirlMakesSomeNoise ... please tell me i'm not just biased cos she's so attractive?

anyway, that's almost exactly how i would describe her stuff and i've been looking for **** like it since i found it, .. i just wish she would post more stuff... i'll be eagerly awaiting other suggestions...

What's the best metal band from Russia? Gothic, doom, and/or prog.

Ok. You're not getting it so I'll spell it out. There is no advertising your band on this site. Unless you've been on here for three months you cannot advertise your band or your music.

Rule Changes To Forum Signatures

The moderating staff have decided that the current rules for what is and isn't allowed in signatures is rather murky & confusing so we have decided to review the rules and as from today the following will apply.

If you have been a member of the forum for over 3 months nothing has changed to affect you so none of the below will apply to you.

If you have just joined us we ask that for the first 3 months of your stay here any links in your signature will have to be moderator approved. You do not need to do anything to get approval just put your link up, if it breaks any rules it will be removed and you will be informed why. If you ignore this warning your account will be banned.

For your first 3 months here only the following links will be approved.
  • Last FM charts
  • Any other social media sites as long as they are PERSONAL ones and not an outlet for music

Links that will not be approved that you may include after you have been here for 3 months
  • Band Websites,
  • Band Facebook pages
  • Any music streaming sites
  • Personal Blogs
  • Youtube channels
You may also post links to
  • Professional websites
  • Professional blogs
On the condition you are not affiliated with them. This will be at the moderator's discretion based on your posting history.

And finally, links that are banned and will get you an instant ban if you include them
  • Profit making websites
  • Pornography
  • Any sort of advertising
  • Any links related to items for sale

Also adding a youtube videos to your signature is annoying. You won't be banned but it will be removed.

Please remember this all at the moderators discretion and our decision is final.

Thank You

I'll try to make this as clear as possible to prevent any confusion. There are at least five million people coming here a week trying to promote their band, and if we allowed that then this site would be drowned in spam posts and threads made by people who had no intention of actually contributing to this site.

But if you become a contributing member, then after a few months or so, when we know you're not just a spammer, we will be happy to listen to your music and give it our brutally honest opinion. We'll even send flowers to your room at the mental asylum after our reviews have driven you to the blackest despair.

It's not about hating on anybody, it's about mountains of spam.

Just make sure your music is the most brutal of grindcore when it comes time.

Dragonforce is nintendo metal, not power metal. I thought that was a well known fact.

Heavy metal? Traditional metal? They aren't nearly fruity enough to be considered power metal.
