Clean Vocal Groups?
Sup everybody,
I'm new to the site but I've been listening to metal ever since my buddy introduced me to metal when I first met him in Wisconsin and he had nothing but metal CDs. Started off with Forever Sets the Sun, and Amity Affliction and it's since branched out quite a bit. However, I'm not a fan of most screaming in metal songs and lately I've been turning away from the screaming altogether even if songs have clean vocals. So, basically, I'm looking for groups or bands that do most songs as clean vocals or maybe the better way to put it is soft vocals? To give you guys an idea of what I listen to, here's a list: Amity Affliction, Issues (Tyler Carter), Hands like Houses, I the Mighty, Emarosa, Crown the Empire, Too Close To Touch, Aaron Gillespie, Landon Tewers/Before Their Eyes/TPIY, The Word Alive (Tyler Smith). Some of the following; Dream on Dreamer, The Color Morale. Almost all of them have clean vocals that are higher pitched, or vocalists that hit the higher notes. If anybody has recommendations I'd love to hear them. P.S. I realize that some groups I mentioned do have screaming (like Amity Affliction) but I think I've started to pull away from them because I've been finding bands that are predominantly clean, soft vocals and that sounds so much better to me. Again, I'd love to hear suggestions! |

Sukekiyo (not really 100% metal, but there's a clear influence. A scream might sneak in here or there, but only because they're so stylistically varied.) Spoiler for youtube video:

King Diamond (you must have heard him already, but here it is) Spoiler for youtube video:

There are better kinds of metal with clean singing than what you're listening to.
|
I don't know if you were dissing me or the guy above, but I'd like to point out that I don't listen to Leprous and Voyager myself. I can still recommend them though, since I know them and think they've got talent and style.
Also, Type O Negative rules!! |

Recently decided to give metal a try, having never really looked to deep into it, because of a friend of mine. I get the impression that a lot of the metal he listens to would be classified as melodic metal core, which i gather is kind of looked down on by some. Examples would be bands like Five Finger Death Punch.
I do find it pretty easy to listen to most of that music though, and if that's the gate to some deeper cuts and more interesting stuff, then I'm fine with it. I will say that some of the technical musicianship and unique sounds that are in metal are what are getting me to try it. As a starting point I just bought Periphery's Juggernaut Alpha Album. I'm kind of addicted to the track MK Ultra. |

Check out Bring Me The Horizon, Asking Alexandria, Suicide Silence, and Zao. |

I could also give you plenty of thrash, death, black, power, doom, stoner, sludge, etc metal. Just tell me if you want to continue on the path your friend has set you or if you want to explore... everything. Quote:

Coming into this I already have some taste for Hardcore Punk, and I can kind of hear the fusion and am finding it appealing in that sense. I recognize Bring Me the Horizon as one of the bands my friend listens to, and I like quite a few of the songs that I've heard of them too. Also read someone somewhere on here recommended a band called "Enslaved", which I really like. |
Enslaved rule.

Then we have extreme metal such as black metal, death metal, grindcore, and certain bands in other genres. Black Metal Death Metal Grindcore On the more melodic side we have power metal. Slowing things down with doom metal, a genre of largely Sabbath worship, closely related to stoner and sludge metal. Stoner metal being... like, fuzzed out doom... and ****... don't worry about it since the two genres are so closely linked it can be hard to tell the difference for anyone at times. Sludge metal is sort of like both the above genres but with a heavy hardcore punk influence. Doom Metal Stoner Metal Sludge Metal Plenty of other kinds of metal out there, but those are some of the biggies and will give you a good start. |
You know Batty, if you actually applied yourself you could probably make something of your metal knowledge. You lazy ****er.

Any recs for good BM (preferably the atmospheric, hypnotic kind with long songs) with a female singer?
|
|
The whole song is perfect
|
|
I forgot to specify that I like my BM raw as hell, not really into the whole melodic/symphonic stuff.
Thanks for replying though. |
