Also check out Sunless, if you haven't already. They're on Bandcamp, but I can't link. Sunless released their debut, Urraca, late last month, and it kicks ass.

I think that CCV album is cool but I dunno if it'll be a regular listen. Massive metalcore influence though.

Unique rock songs

Does anyone know of new rock bands that have a unique sound. I like things that are dark, mysterious, or psychedelic. A band I have in mind is deftones or nine inch nails.
:dj:

Akai 03-24-2017 07:28 PM

nothing really how you described but if you want unique try Hot Rats - Frank Zappa 1969

Yeah, don't know if it's what you're looking for, but Hail Spirit Noir are psychedelic as ****.

Carpe Mortem 03-29-2017 11:17 AM

How are Deftones or NIN psychedelic? Serious question, I'm trying to help but I need to know what psychedelic elements you're seeking because I know of none in their music.

Frownland 03-29-2017 11:20 AM

Reverb maybe?

That's why I'm trying to help the bro out on the downlow.

I think grindcore and powerviolence bands secretly make the best sludge, but I don't have enough pure sludge tracks from those bands. I only want songs that have no grind sections. **** like this...

Frownland 03-30-2017 11:51 AM

It's no secret, look at the founders.

Tytantinus 04-01-2017 12:27 PM

Check out " Conquer the Horizon" by Wake to Wonder from South Africa.

scumflesh 04-05-2017 02:02 AM

SAXON - Live Italy 1983

Old heavy metal from the beginnings, with good sound.

scumflesh 04-05-2017 02:08 AM

Good old school heavy metal

scumflesh 04-05-2017 02:10 AM

Some great upcoming bands to check out:

Recs for rock songs with upbeat, driving rhythm?

Hi all, I am looking for specific rock songs with an upbeat feel and a consistent, driving rhythm section in the vein of classic rock to 80's glam metal. Songs that are similar to what I am seeking include Fire Woman - The Cult, Inferno - H.E.A.T, Light This City - Faithfull, Danger (Let's Get Away) - Danger, and Round and Round - Ratt. What songs can you recommend for me that sound similar to these? Thanks so much!

The first band reminds me of Code Orange. some guitar parts and the vocalist.

The Batlord 05-29-2017 04:07 PM

Dude, does anybody know any even halfway worthwhile Megadeth bootlegs from the mid-80s when they were in their prime? Especially earlier ****.

Frownland 05-29-2017 04:36 PM

You've heard this, right?

mythsofmetal 07-15-2017 04:14 PM

Are there any other symphonic extreme metal bands with the same quality as Fjoergyn's past two albums?

Here are their past two albums for reference. https://fjoergyn.bandcamp.com/album/monument-ende - https://fjoergyn.bandcamp.com/album/lvcifer-es

Just to be clear, I'm definitely not looking for Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, or those types. I also dislike Carach Angren's most recent material, and know their previous stuff but none of that even compares to Fjoergyn either.
