[QUOTE=JiggleMonster;1826694]The first band reminds me of Code Orange. some guitar parts and the vocalist.

I love Code Orange :D Forever is like Meshuggah, Gojira, Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan and Nine Inch Nails all rolled into one, with the best production on a hardcore record to date... that's what I think anyway!

grindy 07-30-2017 01:35 PM

Best Grindcore or whatever this is I've discovered in ages.

Does Behemoth not suck?

I know two people who listen to Behemoth, and they both listen to Five Finger Death Punch. If that tells you anything.

It tells me everything I thought when I went to see if maybe I was too hard on them in the past. It's like Corey Taylor made a death metal album with some teenagers.

The Batlord 07-30-2017 06:39 PM

"Christians to the Lions" is a pretty happening track if I remember correctly, but in general it just sounds like competently executed death metal 101. I suspect they got so popular because they sound like savage real death metal, but don't actually have any bite.

I bet if you listened to some you could find out :0

Underground Music

What are some new up and coming bands in the Los Angeles underground rock scene?

Mondo Bungle 08-07-2017 08:21 PM

I imagine you never listened to Sorcery by Kataklysm

The Batlord 08-07-2017 08:25 PM

How savage? I'm listening to Spreading the Disease and can not divert my attention.

Mondo Bungle 08-07-2017 08:28 PM

I dunno, it's a weird album. I think it oughtta be melodic brutal deathgrind or something cool like that.

Oh look this is one of two Kataklysm albums on my computer let's do this.

Mondo Bungle 08-07-2017 08:55 PM

There's a good chance the other one is lame

I barely even know what makes something brutal death metal but there's this band Garbage Disposal that is apparently that. They had members go on to form Lykathea Aflame and I like talking about them so people will know how obscure and extensive my infinite music taste is

I can't say I remember them really being anything special

There are only a handful of brutal death metal bands I genuinely enjoy - probably because they were among the first I heard and the genre doesn't have much variation. You likely know all these already but maybe you'll be reminded of something you like?

Since Mondo mentioned Lykathea Aflame:

A bit more grind than pure Brutal Death but great work-out song/record:

Pure ****ing death:

Moar classic:

And finally, one of the few records I do listen to with some consistency:

Because there was a spammer above him when he posted that.

Ah, thought maybe there was a secret board ban of Brodequin or something. Feel free to delete this and the my previous post.

Does anybody remember Crazy Town? I love their "Butterfly" and decided to give a listen to their debut album - sound pretty awkward in 2017.

The Batlord 09-01-2017 03:35 PM

For the first half of that post I thought Crazy Town had reduced themselves to spamming internet forums. Phew.

I just tried the opener to Malina out. Do they have anything with good vocals or do they only do the weak indie ****?

Kinda skipping through some of their other tracks and it appears that the answer is no. They're solid musically but I'm really not into this dude's singing and that's one of the easiest ways to turn me off of a record.

Brokarucci 10-02-2017 02:04 PM

Does anybody remember Saliva?
Great band!

Oh god no. "Click Click Boom" is kinda fun but bleh on the rest.

Wpnfire 10-02-2017 08:20 PM

Do i want to know what you two are talking about?

Saliva was a ****ty nu metal band from the early 00s with a couple radio hits, one of which was "Click Click Boom" which I remember was kind of fun for the chorus even if it was otherwise completely and utterly generic, with the chorus also being completely and utterly generic. So no you don't.

And any praise I just gave Saliva is probably down to nostalgia cause listening again I really can't justify not hating this.

I remember that even as a nu metal loving 8th grader, I was woke enough to think that this band was generic as ****.

Wpnfire 10-02-2017 09:15 PM

There really is no diversity in nu metal is there? Just a bunch of bands copying each other.

I like Mushroomhead.

Wpnfire 10-02-2017 09:29 PM

That is surprisingly better.

The Batlord 10-02-2017 10:23 PM

It's kind of not tbh. Not to defend Saliva but I just care about as little.

It's only a tiny bit better.

Also, what?

My indifference to both is about equal.

Plankton 10-03-2017 09:58 AM

This is the only tune from Saliva I can stomach, and just barely. Being on the Dracula 2000 soundtrack doesn't help either.

For my money, if I'm gonna listen to some nu metal, it's gonna be some Snot.

MicShazam 10-03-2017 11:24 AM

I like this finnish nu metal band called Velcra

EPOCH6 10-04-2017 10:37 AM

Been listening to a lot of Vintage Trouble over the last week. Pretty damn good.

When you say vintage Trouble I think of something else and get my riff boner disappointed.

The Batlord 10-14-2017 10:48 AM

My grindcore folder is depressingly underdeveloped. Help me with that. Old, new, traditional, weirdo, just ****ing give it to me.
