Hmm, fair enough. Jeff Mangum is the mastermind behing Neutral Milk Hotel. I never had a second thought about his vocal quality, but alot of people complain.

Jeff's main problem is that when he wails, his voice doesn't hold up so well. He sounds more like a moaning kid than a grief stricken adult.

I don't have a problem with his voice when he is singing but as the album gets further in the singing becomes less and the wailing increases.

...and thats when it gets AWESOME

A good first impact album but if you cannot stomach the vocals you wont listen to it many times. Of course the opposite is true.

Truth, the last song is my favorite, so I have no issue listening to the whole thing.

I'd like to see The Melvins and The Pixies in the next one. They've been very influential towards music of the alternative/rock variety and deserve Hall of Fame recognition.

Why not try doing some research before you open your retarded gob. The Melvins practiced in the back room Dale's mother's shop, across town. They lived in Montaseno, Kurt lived in Aberdeen for a while and almost every band in the whole scene loved the Melvins. From Soundgarden to Mudhoney.

Any knowledge you may have, yet to see much, is completely lost on everyone when you start calling people names.

And also, I meant the fact that they were from the Northwest around the time of the grunge explosion. Pretty much any band that was heavy and melodic from that area was "an influence on alternative rock". Just because a whole shitty scene likes a band doesnt mean that they're great.


And Soundgarden enjoying a band only makes said band lose points.

And maybe you should do some research before you make absurd juvenile ignorant claims about music like "indie kids" not listening to the Pixies, or how grunge is soooo underappreciated.
