Dig a little deeper and you`ll find a myriad of terrible bands such as Papa Roach, Coal Chamber, Sevendust and POD (who actually had some talent but wasted it on nu-metal) and a whole load of post-grunge/alt metal bands that were associated with the scene such as Saliva and Staind etc. If you really want bad, try Static X with their unique formula of nu-metal meets industrial metal

The only band worth sticking with are the Deftones whose first two albums are great and the rest of the discography is decent and their nu-metal/alt metal sound is pretty neat.
I agree with you that all of those bands you mentioned are terrible. But I get frustrated when entire genres are dismissed. Even if most nu metal sucks, there are still some good acts out there. I would cite Deftones myself, and since Slipknot's first two albums are nu metal I would also say they are one of the good ones. Korn has had some solid releases as well.

Unrelated to this, did you know Korn is going to release a dubstep album? It features Skrillex, Noisa, Excision, Datsik, among others. Could be interesting...

Could be, but won't. Be just sub par dubstep instead of sub par nu-metal. Korn is just good at taking a style of music and bastardizing it to death and dumbing it down for kids who can't handle the real thing.

It will suck.

I will agree with that on Deftones. "White Pony" will always be their masterpeice though.

Korn is awful as I have been saying. I had an ex who lives in Calfornia, and Fieldy came into the store she was working at. As expected, he was a douche. He got mad cause she wasn't kissing his ass... and eventually said "do you know who I am?"... she said "Yeah, I just don't care" and he left angry and cursing, haha. One of those guys who thinks everbody should treat him like royalty. It's like Fieldy, listen to me... you made a mockery of metal, Korn sucks enough... but you mad an even bigger mockery of rap with Fieldy's Dreams... the suck factor is just as high as Fort Minor.. nobody with taste will care about you at all... now leave us alone.

Nu-Metal is a boring, sub par type of music. Only applies to teenage suburban white kids angry caused their parents won't loan them the car. I guess if that applies to you, all the power to you, go listen to it...

Nu-Metal is a sub standard form of psuedo-noise passing itself off as metal. Only people who relate to it are suburban white kids, demographic being 14-16. If you meet anybody over that age demographic who still listens to Nu-Metal and derives any sort of pleasure from it... don't talk to them, nothing they can say to you will ever benefit you or enrich the quality of your life.

I have never met a Nu-Metal fan who was anything more than a one dimensional stereotype of your angst filled suburban teenager, not one.

Don't become that, I like you too much to see you become on of them. Skip Nu-Metal and dive deeper into true metal.

Even the people who made nu-metal have moved on with their lives, minus say Korn.. but they were always awful and no hope left for them. They will just end up on a where are they now show or celebrity rehab or something.
Nu metal Soundgarden? Interesting. And Slipknot shows tremendous growth between albums, so even if you outgrow the style the next will have something to offer.

Anyway, I'm sorry but I don't agree with hardly anything you have said here. First of all, the demographics are totally wrong. Nu metal artists are generally mainstream so I know many people who like the genre, both teens and adults. Most of the angst filled teenagers you are describing listen to post-hardcore these days (ex: I See Stars, Attack Attack, etc.). So you must not get out much, or Canada is vastly different, because I could literally walk down my street and disprove your chosen demographic before I hit the next road (which isn't very far). Unless my physical therapist is an angst-filled teen, of course.

Second of all, who cares who relates to the music (even if it was just angst filled teens)? There are a lot of losers that "relate" to the mostly whiny lyrics of nu metal, but there are also a lot of cool people that like it (not necessarily "relating" to it). I guess I'm confused as to what you mean by "relate". I like death metal (progressive) and black metal myself, but I'm not sure how in holy hell I could relate to it. Musically, it can be great. Lyrically...well let's just say I don't hate Jesus or people, and exploring the finality of death is unappealing.

I've heard similar horror stories about the members of Korn. My friend's brother's friend works for the music center over here and complained about them numerous times.

Great post.

All I'd add is if you'll count them, System of a Down is great too...
