Some great albums listed, but Deep Purple "In Rock" is still the best.

I really need to get into more Deep Purple. I got a CD tonight called Made in Japan...? Ever heard of it? I noticed that whenever my local radio station plays Smoke on the Water it's nearly always a live version, and Made in Japan happens to have the song. I wonder if that's it?

Most people have, its one of the most famous live albums from the 1970s.

Better, even more famous than Cheap Trick at Budokan? It's gotta be better than that awful Kiss Alive album! Of course, most people perfer Alive to their studio versions. Speaking of Kiss, does anyone consider them metal?

They often fall into that category and have strong elements of heavy metal. I always thought they were a cheesy hard rock band though.

I was speaking about Deep Purple and not Cheap Trick. I'm not a fan of Kiss but Kiss Alive is another great live album from the 1970s. I don't think of them as metal but they were a precursor to Hair metal and they were the face of American metal in the 1970s.

I know. I was asking if that Deep Purple live album was as good as the one by Cheap Trick. Because I don't see how any live album would be as good as that Cheap Trick one.

I hated Kiss Alive! There are subtlties from the studio versions that aren't used in the live performance. The most noticable one was when Simmons kind of chuckles during Cold Gin, not in the live version...
