Too much symphonic metal warrants the playing of this album at a high decibel.

Normally I'm not a fan of live recordings, but this is some of the best live footage I've ever seen, and people are probably getting sick of me posting the album version of this song.
Watching these guys physically play these riffs on guitar is just as entertaining as the music, and I love how nobody in this crowd moves for the entire duration of the song. Nobody knows how to react. It's like Hendrix playing in the mid-60s. Nobody was ready for it.

Love it. You can really sense a wave of "what the actual ****?!?!" through the venue.

When I saw them 14 years later, everyone was losing their shit in that crowd. Only time I've been scared of serious injury at a show.

If you're so cool that Deafheaven is the only metal band that you listen to, you'll probably love the **** out of this.

I'm now halfway through that album and somehow they turned into Slint.

It's kind of all over the place, rotating between post-rock, black metal, and post-hardcore, but I feel it still works for what it is. Also, their lyrics are something else.

"She lives with me now, in this house
where every night we play the same game. It begins at dusk;
Marie taunts me with her naked breasts, which hang like
dazzling moons, then I dump one of our many overflowing
ashtrays over her body. The ashes cling to the urine on her torn
clothes forming new, amusing patterns each time.
"

There's a handful of songs that just leave you in awe, and this is one of the ones in doom metal without a doubt.

8 minutes and every second is intense.
