Thoroughly dense and crushing mathcore with a much sludgier production than your average math band. Old school metalcore is better than all other forms of metal and punk. Straight up.

God damn is this album continuing to kick my ass. I love that low rent production of 90s metalcore. Just makes everything more raw and in your ****ing face.

The more I listen to 90s metalcore, the more I realize just how special Arkangel were. I mean, I always knew they were amazing, but I kind of saw them as straight ahead metalcore without much more than sheer brutality to recommend them, but after listening to bands who can actually outstrip Arkangel in that department, I've come to appreciate their grasp of melody and songcraft.

Their Slayer (and Gothenburg?) riffs and leads add a dose of not only accessibility but viciously gleeful energy that makes their music more memorable than many bands who might be more raw and brutal. They may not have nearly the inventiveness of a Converge or (sigh) Dillinger Escape Plan, but they manage to make truly savage metalcore that sticks in your head and is just plain ****ing fun. I really only need the one Arkangel album, but it is without a doubt a desert island one.
