I have not listened to any Sepultura after the classic line up disbanded because it just didn't feel right but the latest Sepultura release 'Kairos' is a really good album and far better than the latest Cavelera Conspiracy album:

Cavelera Conspiracy are god awful. The more I listen to anything attached to Maxs name now, the more embarrassed I feel to admit I love him for the early Sep days.... Because god damn he can;t write a lyric to save his life. He has to be one of the worst lyricists of all-time as far as I am concerned.

His lyrics are awful. I can forgive this in Sepultura because the music was actually interesting. While Soulfly and now Cavelera Conspiracy just prove he is still writing to cater to angsty teenagers. His lyrics are just so juvenile and stupid.

I will always love him in Sepultura... but I just wish he could write something that doesn't feel like it is catering to the lowest of the low in metal.

Ah. Nothing better for a slightly sad mood than a little Burzum. If only it were raining and not almost a hundred degrees it would be perfect.

I've been listening to some songs by YOB, a doom metal band from Eugene, Oregon (Yob (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). A friend of mine was listening to them and I was curious.

YOB - Universe Throb
This song caught my attention because it reminds me of the pulsing alien signal in the movie "Contact," which I like.

Compare this to...

The Pulsing Alien Signal from the movie, "Contact," with Jodie Foster:
Similar, no?

Did you know that Anthrax actually started out as an Anvil covers band, not sure if you know that bit of metal trivia. Also I've often seen drummer Robb Reiner regarded as one of the best drummers in metal (or at least in speed metal) Anvil despite going downhill, had some stellar metal albums back in the early 1980s and really set the stage for bands like Metallica.

Max went downhill sometime in his Soulfly days, when he had started calling himself the "Bob Marley of Metal" I thought the lyrics were decent back in his Sepultura days and at times really memorable, but I agree they're just cliched now and a lot of cutting and pasting from earlier material takes place. I hardly listen to anything post-Soulfly by him anymore.

last heard was Keiji Haino's "I Said, This is the Son of Nihilism"

which was only drone metal for 20 minutes

it was more ambient noise thereafter

We need a Final Solution for people who don't like power metal.
