Doom is one of the few metal genres that I've had patience for these past few weeks. Riffs are just the greatest invention ever.

I've actually been a major doom mood lately myself, though I think you and I are into very different types of doom.

I was listening to a relatively unknown band called "Cold" and the song called "Remedy". Boy they knew how to rock.

If you mean the more extreme forms of doom, like funeral doom, I definitely love that kinda stuff, I'm just not in an extreme metal mood. Trad doom is where it's at for me at the moment. Although, even that's been banished for the moment for a strange collection of early Clash and various power metal bands.

I'm more into the stoner/sludge/drone end of things, traditional doom doesn't tend to click with me as much. I'm really digging this at the moment for example (warning: the intro to this track is about 2 minutes long, though good):

As far as funeral doom goes, I honestly haven't heard much. I remember checking out a couple bands a few years ago but nothing jumped out at me. If you have any recommendations for someone who likes their doom thick n fuzzy I'd love to hear them.

Well, I'm still pretty new to funeral doom, but some good stuff I've found would be...

And, while not funeral doom, some great death doom I'd kick myself for not recommending...

These guys are pretty amazing. They never got to record an actual album, but it doesn't matter, their sound was perfect for demos. They sound like Hellhammer and Sabbath had a cancerous demon child. Atmospheric and lo-fi as all hell.

This song isn't really too metal, but Nebula can get heavy when they want to. Either way, it's still Stoner goodness.

From Jag Panzer's first EP. They obviously had no money to record, but it's still got some magic to it.
