Good QBs are hard to find, since so many come in and stink it up.
i agree and teams are handcuffed into payin a qb basically whatever he wants. but that deal will hurt the ravens big time, flacco obviously isnt worth it but he had all the leverage. i felt like cutler lost leverage when mccown came in and played great but i guess not cause he still got paid big time. plus denver gave up on the guy too, i dunno i dont put him in the upper echelon of qbs

i dont think dalton is good. i agree he will get paid but i think hes so over rated. cant throw deep, has a team with a ton of weapons, cant make consistent medium to deep throws at all

also i wasnt sayin the contract shows what little he means to THEM. but from a viewpoint of someone who isnt writin the checks, my point is they are over estimatin how much he means to them. they have the first or 2nd duo of receivers and one of the best rbs in the league and aside from this yr, usualy a stellar defense. and cutler still makes the same mistakes year after year after year. they would been smarter goin out to trade for a kirk cousins or somethin and savin 100 MILLION imo. i dont think he is crucial to their success
Why would you go with Kirk Cousins when you have a guy who you know can lead you to at least 8-10 wins or more most seasons. Cutler's a franchise QB, and who knows about Kirk Cousins. He might be the next Matt Flynn or Matt Cassel. Jay Cutler has at least proven that he's a good QB. He might be a Tony Romo/Andy Dalton/Joe Flacco type of "good", but that's still the kind of QB who can win the Super Bowl

Nah, Dalton is good. When you're a solid QB for 3 years straight, you're at least good. Drew Brees doesn't have good arm strength, but he's still a great QB.

To me, McCown playing well didn't say anything, he's the exact type of QB who could perform well as a backup when teams aren't expecting him. Cutler has played well year in and year out despite teams studying his film and knowing his tendencies.

i put romo way ahead of cutler. and the reason you do it is cause maybe you get cousins for half the price and use that money for a few other players. so its like would ya rather have cutler or maybe 3-4 other players instead?? obviously management and most ppl say cutler. i just disagree. i dont think cutler is much better than the average and to me the most obvious way is lookin at quarterbacks at the line of scrimmage. you see all the greats and even the really good wbs like ryan, romo makin all sorts of changes. audibles, hot routes, protection schemes, etc. i dont see that from guys like bradford, cutler etc

Numbers my friend. Cutler's numbers speak for themselves. He's an above average QB. A franchise QB. He's only had a QB rating under 85 twice. He hasn't had a QB rating over 90, so like I said I don't think he's great QB, but he's a pretty good one statistically.

If you could trade Cutler for Cousins and a pick or two, sure, but what are the odds that Cousins and the other players involved in the trade can replicate Cutler's production?

well realize i know this situation would never happen and cousins was just a backup that came to mind that could prob be had for the right price. problem is that youd be gettin rid of cutler and gettin nothin in return. but i woulda talked to the crappy teams who need a qb and see if they would trade for him or somethin. i think the chances are pretty good that another qb could produce CLOSE to cutler. like i said cmon, hes got 2 amazing wrs and a great rb, all the weapons in the world. i just wouldnt have given him that kinda $$$ especially after everyone just saw baltimore pay flacco and then couldnt afford anyone around him

Most QBs that are awesome have "all the weapons in the world". The QB is what makes the WR as much as the WR makes the QB, and while McCown played well, he's historically mediocre, and he's also historically decent when he's unexpected. Great backup QB a la Matt Flynn or Matt Cassel, but not the kind of guy who could possibly unseat Jay Cutler. I expected Chicago to retain him, and that's why I'm saying he's a franchise QB, which they'd be pretty stupid to trade away unless they know they're getting the real deal.

really hoping for sf/sea and ne/den. would be two great rivalry games for a chance to play in the superbowl
