i've always wanted to learn how to whistle, and i still can't

i've also wanted to learn tissue paper and comb, but i can't either

Frownland 01-01-2012 10:19 AM

The main instrument is guitar for me, but I've been working on my theremin technique.

prettymachine 01-01-2012 11:06 AM

I play guitar.

Franco Pepe Kalle 01-04-2012 08:23 PM

I want to learn how to play guitar. I do want to play so bad.

Theremins are awesome. I don't have one, but I'd like to get one.

They are indeed awesome. I recently learned how to play a few of the theremin interludes off of Walkin' by Silver Apples, I'm so happy that I can do more than "WEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOWEEEEEEOOOOOOHHHH" now.

VEGANGELICA 02-19-2012 02:50 AM

I want to buy a tambourine.

Howard the Duck 02-19-2012 02:50 AM

Actually, no, Duck. I was just scoping out the tambourine scene over at Musician's Friend, and I think I'd opt for a natural wood-colored one with silver and gold jingles and a white canvas (not dead animal skin, yikes) striking head.

The technical term for the jingly things on tambourines appears to be "jingles."

Howard the Duck 02-19-2012 02:59 AM

it's a Beck reference and meant to be a joke

he had a hit called "Black Tambourine"

Ohh!

Beck??

(Joke...lost...on...uninformed...me. :/ )

Piotr_13 02-21-2012 10:35 PM

Main instruments: Guitar, Drums, and Computer (lol).

Secondary instruments (decent skill level): Banjo, Mandolin, Bass, Kalimba

I wish I could play the Violin, or any bowed instrument. I don't have the muscle memory for using the bow.

I'd also love to play the stand up bass, but I don't have a hundred billion dollars.

Blarobbarg 02-23-2012 12:33 PM

I play percussion, I've been favoring the djembe a lot lately.

I really, really need to learn to play piano or guitar or something. If only so I can better understand notes and chords and so I can actually figure out the music I hear in my head without stumbling along with my guitarist friends trying to figure it out.

eurochild 02-23-2012 04:41 PM

I play the acoustic guitar, the bass (which is the most badass instrument there is), ukulele and computer (if that's regarded as an instrument, which I hope it is). I also have an extremely out-of-tune harmonica, which I would really like to learn to play. And I sing a bit too.

BUT I WANT TO PLAY GLOCKENSPIEL.

Peppermint4life 02-23-2012 07:01 PM

I play a decent enough guitar. I can play bass a bit, but my lines don't meet my expectations. I can also sing If I need to. My vocal range is about two octaves without going into a falsetto. My problem singing is its a bit nasaly and I have a problem making the note have emotion in it. But my thing is guitar for sure

S.Neil 02-23-2012 09:43 PM

Electric Violin!

KevinSlater_04 03-22-2012 12:38 AM

I know how to play drums, but I'm more to guitar, of course that's my favorite instrument. :D
Everytime I have nothing to do, I play GUITAR.

Oh and I sing too.

VoiceX 05-08-2012 03:31 AM

Guitar. Bass. Piano. Synthesizer (its not the same thing as keyboards, if you consider all of the technical sides. Editing, mixing, arpeggio programming, sound synthesis etc). Drums. Viola. Vocals. Granted my drumming skills could use some major improving, but I just don't have the time :(

Been trying to learn hand ocarina after seeing Leonard Cohen pull off a crude solo at an Isle of Wight concert.

better yet, learn to play the ocarina of time

sillymilly 05-28-2012 09:31 AM

why do keyboards suck???

DFrey 05-28-2012 11:23 AM

Just bought my first guitar a few days ago, a steel-string acoustic I got for pretty cheap. Want to learn to play that this summer and might eventually try singing. Don't really think I'll ever be too good at either, just something I think I would enjoy doing in my free time.

Brian Krashpad 05-28-2012 11:40 AM

Played guitar since c.1970, bass since the mid-'80's. Taught myself some mandolin over the last couple years. Can play a few chords on ukelele and banjo too.

Judging from your avatar you'll be pleasantly surprised to learn how relatively easy I Could Have Lied turns out to be on guitar. Though my very first tune was Suck My Kiss :afro:

jerryanddrum 05-29-2012 09:38 AM

Drums. Check out my website HOME - jerryanddrum

Plankton 05-29-2012 10:50 AM

I play a really mean Kazoo. It hates me.

Plus I dabble in guitar somewhat.

Really? Cool. Might have to check it out later. Pretty far away from learning a song right now, but I'll keep it in mind lol. Thanks for the tip.

Quench 06-11-2012 12:15 PM

Playing piano is tons of fun :p

Violin was my first so it holds a special place in my heart.

srgrrt 06-13-2012 01:57 AM

I've played drums for 7 yrs now, and I'm becoming a professional musician. it's hell of fun :)

skripka 06-16-2012 08:46 AM

I've been playing violin (20 years), piano (14 years), surdo (4 years) and caixa ( 3 years). I always wanted to play drums :)

Neigh-Sayer 06-18-2012 10:57 PM

I can play a bit of guitar and piano. There are a few instruments I'd love to learn, though... the violin, the banjo, and the mandolin, namely.

Shanda 07-11-2012 08:40 PM

Relearning the violin/fiddle....by myself. I'm lousy right now but working on it. Hoping to start lessons again this fall. I really wish I never quit years ago. I'm also hoping to start playing a little with the guitar too pretty soon.

mervi 07-19-2012 01:22 PM

I own an acoustic guitar, but saying that I can play it would be more or less a lie. I played a little tiny bit 10 or so years ago, but now that few years ago I finally had the money to buy my own, I haven't had the time nor energy to practice :( I'd also love to learn to play banjo.

Oh, and in elementary school I played recorder and kantele :D not because I wanted to, but because all of us kids had to :D

Howard the Duck 07-19-2012 05:03 PM

i'm primarily a guitarist

and i still primarily play the blues

locoman23 07-19-2012 05:04 PM

I casually play guitar, but my favourite instrument is my voice and that's what I'm playing the most.

HATE 07-25-2012 05:25 AM

Guitar ,Drums & Bass

1moretroubadour 07-25-2012 09:59 PM

Piano and pretty good at it.

Want to play guitar badly. And unfortunately, I do play badly :(
I can handle basic strumming and all the chords but I have a hard time making it dynamic. But I am beginning to experiment with odd tunings to see what kind of weird sounds to get.

In fact this gives me a thread idea...

musacco 07-29-2012 11:29 PM

Classical guitar mainly! Not very good at it admittedly. Teaching myself violin. Can play piano and ukulele (all sizes) well but I don't feel like pursuing it. Aaaand I used to be a jazz bassist for two years.

My passion's in whistling though. Whistling's the best instrument eva yo

But as for things I want to play? Bajo sexto, guitarron mexicano, accordion, concertina, drums, trombone, trumpet, djembe, xylophone, musical saw, celeste, harp, harmonium, organ, waterphone, guitarviol aaaand cello

Edit: and tongue drums, how could i forget tongue drums
