I don't know even that would matter. She'd still be learning from scratch anyways! I wish her luck in learning the violin. It takes practice to master but then it sounds great :)

NGPercussion 04-26-2011 09:06 AM

I am a percussionist, and have been studying for eleven years so far, but I have learned a little bit of recorder, guitar, violin, cello, viola, and string bass. I am also learning piano, and am taking cello lessons next semester.

Brent 04-27-2011 10:30 PM

I can sort of play piano, I guess. Only been seriously at it for 6/7 months so... :P

I'd love to learn to play the harp, but I can't find a teacher anywhere in my province. ):

I might start up some violin lessons soon, as well.

As for other instruments... well I like them all, so I guess I'll take it in my stride to learn to play as many as I can!

fergus123 05-13-2011 09:20 AM

I play the tenor drums in a band:)

Mykonos 05-18-2011 09:43 AM

Like many people here, I play the guitar. I've been doing it for a couple of years, and I'd say that I've only recently started to get good at it. I mostly play acoustic blues and folk, but I'm planning on getting a Tele and Big Muff to really let rip with some electric sounds. I also have a piano and harmonica and have learned some simple stuff on both, although I've never had the dedication to sit down and learn them properly.

As for an instrument I'd like to learn? I'd say the Mandolin, and maybe the Drums. Pretty stereotypical instruments all round, but hey, I love 'em.

Burning Down 05-18-2011 09:44 AM

Yeah it took a couple of years for me to get good at the guitar too. I play more bass now though.

Mykonos 05-18-2011 10:09 AM

I've been looking at basses every now and again, but I'm not sure if I'd benefit from one just yet. I don't have a band or any inherent music writing ability (well, at least until I get round to learning theory properly) so I'm more than content just jamming away with 12 bar blues and famous riffs for now.

Howard the Duck 05-19-2011 08:39 AM

i also would like to learn banjo

Phantom Limb 05-27-2011 05:05 PM

i think that bagpipes will be my next musical endeavor. i've been wanting to pick them up for a while now.

E.Vil 05-28-2011 12:00 PM

I play guitar (Electric and Acoustic) I also play bass (a little) and I am learning the Banjo :D

daisymayhem 05-30-2011 04:10 PM

In between a violin and a cello

I've played the Viola for 12 years.. I used to play for other people, but now I play for myself. Could have gone to college for it.. opted for History :)

caffeine 05-31-2011 07:31 AM

I'm learning to play electric guitar.

Standbyking 06-09-2011 08:34 AM

Nothing but my voice and the radio. lol Not bad at either but wish I was better.

you should start with the acoustic first - it's easier to hear stuff

and ya know what they say "if it doesn't sound good on acoustic, it'll be shite on electric"

Mykonos 06-09-2011 02:03 PM

Acoustics can be a real killer on your fingers though. And it's harder to learn things like string bending and high notes on them.

Burning Down 06-09-2011 02:23 PM

In my opinion, being able to play an acoustic guitar can make you a more well-rounded guitarist. I think it's better to learn guitar on an acoustic because you will build up more strength in your fretting hand than you would on an electric. Just my experience.

Mykonos 06-09-2011 05:07 PM

Hmm, fair enough. My fretting arm is strong enough anyway (leftie) so I probably wouldn't have to worry about it as much, but then again, I did learn partially on an acoustic.

string bending - not really, unless you have nylon strings

high notes - no also - if you get an acoustic with a longer neck and goes to 14 frets

Burning Down 06-09-2011 09:54 PM

Get an acoustic with a cutaway. You can reach the high notes more easily.

I play piano and a little bit of guitar but I really want to play drum, has anyone some advice for me?

Bass808 06-15-2011 10:35 AM

I want ot learn every string instrument and drums. :)

Howard the Duck 06-15-2011 09:29 PM

i just noticed the poll options

keyboards do not suck

The Virgin 06-16-2011 07:50 AM

i would love to play the keyboards/piano. it's just so beautiful to listen to and it's like the piano has the most musical notes you can play with out of all musical instruments.

DoctorSoft 06-16-2011 01:26 PM

I'm pretty decent at guitar, bass, and drums. I also used to play trumpet, but the school band got canceled. I also just started playing the accordian.

muZiverse 06-22-2011 10:27 PM

I play the Piano, Violin, Viola and Guitar (classical, electric and bass). I play the piano professionally, and Violin as a 1st violin in a local orchestra. Guitar I haven't found a use for yet. :P

If you're talking Classical, rip some violin pieces and play them on guitar. Bach's Partia soloes are great fun to play with an axe, expecially if you wank up the gain and play them like a real rock solo every now and then.

sandra21pollack 06-24-2011 01:47 AM

I'm a Guitarist!!

I want to master to use guitar... but I want to have a concrete idea on how to master it sometimes I'm having problem of it. Could anyone can give me an advice on how to work it especially on lead? Thanks....

sandra21pollack 06-24-2011 01:52 AM

Shocks! I want to have this hands... Very impressive.... it would be nice if he can share the technique he has....xD

TheNiceGuy 07-01-2011 03:26 AM

I play the Keyboard/Piano and er... the recorder. :p: One day I'd like to learn the guitar or bass, but I've always been more of a keyboard man.

How can you tell when a violist is playing out of tune?
The bow is moving.

P.S. You play all the same instruments as me besides guitar and drums. Just felt like that was worth mentioning somehow.

HajjLaboratory 07-31-2011 09:10 AM

Piano it seems like it would take forever though

Its called practice! Its worth it... I will post a video of me playing right now by van halen.... look the song up... the piano is awesome

Rockets and Love 08-01-2011 04:30 AM

I currently piano with some background in violin and trumpet. I own a guitar, but I never really took off in it....having a blast with piano though, please don't say it 'sucks' just because it's not your preference.

SIRIUSB 08-10-2011 11:43 AM

Fretless guitar / composer / producer / programmer

Black_Hawk 08-10-2011 12:55 PM

Howard the Duck 08-11-2011 01:20 AM
