^Learning other rhythm instruments can only make your rhythm and sense of timing better.

Guitar (taking classes in school)
Drums (taking classes in school)
Bass (self taught)
Clarinet (been playing for 5 years but I really haven't touched it in a while)
Keyboard/Piano (self taught)

I'd have to say out of any of those, I really want to continue working in percussion. Right now I'm just learning basic skills for the snare drum, drumset, and mallet instruments. I'm learning a lot of rudiments that most people don't know about. I'm just seeming to pick it up quickly and I alsolutely love it. Music always comes easy though and it's definetly a passion of mine.

Lulz, most drummers know most of the rudiments. Theres not that many.

Greta 12-31-2007 09:35 AM

Guitar (self,with friends)
A little[very little] piano (self)

MD23 12-31-2007 09:59 AM

Sing

Guitar is my favorite - especially electric. I used to also play trumpet and french horn. Both are relatively boring compared to the above list.

:) i can play all of them fairly well, piano and guitar are by far my best though

mrbagel3 01-14-2008 03:36 PM

i play guitar, bass, violin and do vocals. and i'm trying to get my mom to pay for piano lessons right now but she doesn't want to shell out another 15 bucks per week plus the 25 she's already paying per week for violin lessons so i don't think that's happening anytime soon.

Lizzie 01-14-2008 06:10 PM

Piano and guitar, the two greatest instruments....and when i wanna play some bob dylan, i get out my harmonica:)

spook 01-16-2008 09:42 AM

40 years on electric and acoustic guitar, 28 on bass, and 15 on mandolin and banjo, 20+ years as a pro, but now doing it for fun, (yeah, alright I'm 51 - probably been playing longer than many on here have been alive and I'm just about getting to grips with it - you NEVER stop learning!).

I'll have a go on anything with strings and a fretboard - always wished I could play keyboards, sax, and harmonica but never had time to learn, maybe when I'm to knackered to stop gigging, which will probably never happen.

austin1292 01-23-2008 03:44 PM

drums, guitar, and violin

Halfa 01-26-2008 02:41 PM

i started on Piano for about 9 years...i also learned trumpet. I'm teaching myself bass and drums right now.

Plus i've taught myself guitar and i play french horn.

GuitarBizarre 01-26-2008 05:32 PM

I've been playing guitar for 9 years now, Violin has been picked up and put down a number of times.

Comus 01-26-2008 06:26 PM

I play guitar, very badly.

savannah 01-26-2008 10:23 PM

Ever since I heard a certain Patrick Wolf song I've been dying to learn the violin....I've got to learn how to

savannah 01-26-2008 11:10 PM

i recomend learning mandolin before violin

Lizzie 01-26-2008 11:11 PM

ohh, I've always wanted to learn the madolin as well...

Halfa 01-27-2008 12:17 AM

hah. well....violin is a beautiful instrument when played correctly. when its not....
theres a whole lota instruments that fall into that category. Accordians, banjos, slide guitar, oboes, english horns, french horn, bassoon, cello, viola......

the only one i know of that sounds bad no matter what is the bagpipes.

snocrsh 01-27-2008 07:39 PM

I only really play the saxophone.

I've played a lot of the other instruments most people here have. Guitar, banjo, mandolin (one-man bluegrass band!). When I was studying to teach music I taught myself trumpet and the keys so I'd have a nice rounded woodwind/brass/string/keyboard set of experience.

But I only play the saxophone.

haha, I would normally agree, usually they annoy the hell out of me, but on this Neutral Milk Hotel song they have bagpipes, and it actually sounds pretty good. :p:

Halfa 01-28-2008 04:47 PM

apparently theres a festival once a year in canada where they gather like....3000 bagpipes and all play at once. their rendition of Amazing Grace is truely devastating

or so my sources say

 oh god, I would rather DIE than hear that, honestly

jackhammer 01-28-2008 05:06 PM

I play the Pink Oboe (not through choice. Society has ground me down).
I like a quick roll on the skins too, but when the drummer gets back he chucks me off.

i think it wouldnt matter cuz you'd die from hearing it

Lizzie 01-28-2008 05:32 PM

Most likely I would.

Halfa 01-29-2008 06:49 PM

i'm pretty sure those guys can be charged for involuntary man slaughter at the VERY least

Lizzie 02-03-2008 04:41 PM

Well, I just bought a bright yellow ukulele, so i can add that to my collection of instruments. I'm so proud, for now I can play Augestine correctly:p:

[MERIT] 02-03-2008 07:33 PM

I'd love to learn to play the harmonica. I've heard it's exponentially harder to play than it looks.

Lizzie 02-03-2008 08:02 PM

^I actually never found the harmonica that hard. I know a lot of people say it's really difficult, but honestly, I don't see why, I find it a lot more easy to play than a lot of other instruments

Halfa 02-05-2008 06:02 PM

horn is harder. i almost passed out last night trying to play Sigrfried's Call.

in my opinion the human voice is the hardest instrument to truely master.
next is probably true mastery of piano....because it takes such coordination
then strings
then doublereed instruments, the french horn, and percussion

then wind instruments in general
