Vocals are my best by far:

Taught my self Piano

and still teaching myself Guitar, and Bass

AsherM 02-17-2008 08:39 PM

I am an amateur guitar player, and by "player" I mean producer of horrible broken melody and constant misser of notes. Lol, actually I think I'm moving along pretty well for how breifly I've been doing this. When I fiddle around with the guitar my stuff usually comes out jazzy but sometimes it sounds like generic KISS or Nirvana imitation.

I'm a decent vocalist. I don't do the raspy-voiced screaming stuff. My singing is usually more melodic and I tend to get into higher pitch even though my normal voice is fairly monotone.

Bass Guitar, Guitar and Keyboards

Farfisa 02-18-2008 08:02 PM

Halfa 02-18-2008 10:50 PM

sometimes i think that the "of course" after guitar is implied...i mean...EVERYONE plays guitar

its like asians and piano

cardboard adolescent 02-19-2008 12:37 PM

i find the fewer instruments i play, the better my music ends up sounding

very very true. master 1 to 2 instruments rather than being decent at all of them

"Jack of all trades, master of none"

Farfisa 02-19-2008 07:15 PM

glad you heard that totally pointless story? I HOPE SO

Sarahahaha 02-24-2008 02:17 PM

I've been playing the piano for about 13 years now the guitar for 3 and the clarinet...probably a year. I really want to learn the cello soon

TheCaster 03-04-2008 11:59 AM

i believe this should be moved....

whos_next 03-04-2008 01:36 PM

i've played the trumpet for about 5 years now and i'd like to think i'm pretty good. I started drumming a few months ago and I'm decent at it and getting better.

Slayden 03-04-2008 11:08 PM

I play the keyboard decently, but my strong suit is singing. I have no idea why the first poster said keyboards suck, though it seems he is quite the ignoramus to make such a statement.

I had wanted to play the guitar, but my hands are so large that my finger joints hurt to play, and each of my fingers usually pressed against two (sometimes 3) strings at the same time instead of 1. The bass, upright bass, or cello would probably suit my fingers better. I would like to learn bass or cello, the harp (maybe), the drums (which I have a little experience with), and either the flute or saxophone, but only after I have polished my keyboarding skills to my liking.

Slayden 03-05-2008 06:09 AM

I play the vocal cords. :P And keyboard too. Man there is so much talent here it's a little intimidating... I'm virtually the only musician in this little backwater town so I'm not used to meeting many other musicians.

Farfisa 03-07-2008 04:54 AM

^
Alot of great guitarists had huge hands like Jimi Hendrix

Junior 03-10-2008 02:07 PM

I've been playing bass since I was 14. I did sold all my basses about two years ago, to buy me a double bass. Some piece of art made in Slowakia about 70 years ago.
Only electric bass I still have is my 'splendid' Ibanez Roadstar II-series, wich is getting a paintjob at the moment.

Next to that, I play nothing else, although I always dreamed about accordion and trumpet...

xavient 03-11-2008 10:13 AM

Accordion is the best !

Piano, Guitar, Drums, Vocals, Trumpet.

5 Years of Piano Lessons.

1 year of guitar. (CURRENTLY IN GUITAR)

Never took druming lessons but I can keep an okay beat.

Took 8 months of vocal lessons
.

Alfred 03-11-2008 11:00 AM

Piano, Guitar, Saxophone.

I'm not so good at piano anymore, though. I gave it up for guitar, and now I can't remember half of the pieces I played, and have a hard time trying to learn new ones. Oh well, I'd rather play guitar. I play Saxophone as well for band. It's a sweet-ass instrument, and not too, too complex.

sweet_nothing 03-11-2008 09:31 PM

I'm one of the few that play bass.

Farfisa 03-11-2008 09:55 PM

^^^^
cause your gay, but anyways having big hands allows you to use your thumb to mute the strings and in my opinion its alot easier to hold the neck

AsherM 03-12-2008 05:19 PM

Update: I know it was only a few weeks ago or something when I posted on here but I'm much better with the guitar now. I can even finally make my own songs without wanting to delete them a few days later. Ironically now I'm having trouble vocally which I was good at before I started practicing guitar.

KevinTh0m 03-17-2008 05:31 PM

I'm a 3 1/2 year trumpeter.

I play Trumpet, would like to learn violin followed by piano.

Halfa 03-22-2008 06:10 PM

learn piano first. it'll help ur intonation a LOT when u learn violin.

AsherM 03-22-2008 07:45 PM

In the past I made fun of my guitar playing but now I'm much better, even though I'm still a beginner.

I'm a good singer.

Dreamed 03-23-2008 01:04 AM

picked up a C harp today, gonna drink whiskey and rock some rock and some blues when i get good

piano & guitar one day..harp first

nothin like music

OakHeart 03-24-2008 03:23 PM

I play lots of instruments, but my favorite would have to be my clarinet.

CrackledNitro 03-26-2008 01:45 PM

I play guitar now, but I wish I knew piano b/c it always seemed to me that the pianists I've known have had a thorough understanding of music. Then from there, they took it to bass, then guitar, etc. I can only read tab. I have no idea how to read sheet music. I guess that makes me a bit of a posuer.

Halfa 03-26-2008 05:56 PM

eh..not really....most people hwo play guitar cant read sheet music.
i myself cant sightread on guitar at all
i CAN figure stuff out cuz i have a good background in music....but with guitar its not all that big a deal

mr dave 03-31-2008 01:26 PM

i'm an illiterate guitar and bass player

been playing for about 15 years now. have a fair pile of gear collected at this point. usually jam once a week with friends in the back of a warehouse. super loud freak out improv. it's good **** haha

Halfa 04-02-2008 06:59 PM

learning to read music is fun tho

and after you get that u can get awesome old classical stuff and play it
i'm thinking of doing a verion of Dvorak's 7th slavonic dance with my band
its pretty awesome

Doctor Music 04-02-2008 07:16 PM

Guitar, keyboard, and (sigh) euphonium
