Westboro Baptist Church Epically Trolled By Rainbow Colored House Right Across The Street | Addicting Info

Absolutely epic story.

Man is researching WBC online and so goes to Google Earth. He does a 360 street view and see's that the house directly opposite has a 'For Sale' sign. He buys the house and then today decorates it in the colours of the Gay Pride flag.

I salute this man.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-19-2013 04:40 PM

Great story but damn why are people still using the word epic. It makes me shudder with it's overuse.

Mojo 03-19-2013 04:52 PM

This is epic. No overuse.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-19-2013 05:12 PM

No it's primo.

Mojo 03-19-2013 05:17 PM

People are still using the word "cool", with great frequency.
It's at least 50 years old. Why aren't you bothered by that? Is it the length of time, frequency, or something else?

Maybe I just hate that word or maybe it's because people all jumped on the bandwagon together when it was considered 'cool' to do so. I mean epic fail, really? I'll epic fail your face.

Target apologises for 'Manatee Gray' plus-sized dress

US retailer Target has apologised for labelling a plus-sized dress after a rotund marine mammal.

Uproar followed when a shopper tweeted a screengrab of the "Manatee Gray" dress from Target's website.

A smaller size of the same dress was labelled "Heather Gray". Target has now changed the listing to simply "gray".

"It is never our intention to offend our guests and we apologize for this unintentional oversight," a Target spokeswoman told the BBC.

"Manatee Gray is a seasonal color used across Target product categories, from apparel to home items."

A large, aquatic relative of the elephant, manatees are sometimes called sea cows.
From BBC News - Target apologises for 'Manatee Gray' plus-sized dress.

^I heard about that yesterday but I don't think I quite understand why some people find it funny. It was both unintentional and they apologized right when it happened, I find that to be an innocent slip up. If it were intentional, I think it'd be a lot funnier. However, I think part of the issue is that the people offended really didn't need to express that it was Target's fault.

I think the fact that it was unintentional is a big part of why it's funny.

I suppose that would make sense then. But I don't know. To me it just seems like a silly thing to report on the news, if that makes sense.

I love the fact that it was unintentional as well. I'm pretty sure it had to pass some checks and they didn't even notice it.

I didn't hear about this but if it did indeed make the news, then I would hope it be a rather light-hearted piece. If it's creating any kind of controversy then that would just be sad.

I thought it was funny.

People are pretty dumb. I remember the story about the kids at a high school foot ball game that help up a sign with the "u mad bro" thing on it when the opposing team lost. Not knowing what it meant the other school made a big huff because they thought it was racist against the black players. Yeah, some people should be sterilized.

Paul Smeenus 04-06-2013 09:29 AM

I don't think the "manitee grey" story is as much funny as it is a WTF moment. You would expect that SOMEONE might have noticed that naming a plus-sized garment after such a sweet but famously girthy creature might have unfortunate connotations. I mean really.

And that WTF element to the story IMO is what makes it newsworthy. I don't mean front page above-the-fold newsworthy of course...

This. But how on earth did Target miss the connection? And what sort of marketing allure would a freaking Manatee provide in a plus-sized dress line aside from the obvious, insulting correlation?

Freebase Dali 04-06-2013 03:58 PM

Some of you may have heard this little piece of amazingness.
Rep. DeGette (D-CO) has this to say about the efficacy of banning high-capacity magazines:

Apparently she's heading up the ban in her state. Don't you think the person in charge of implementing such a solution should know the first freaking thing about how magazines work?
She thinks you can only use them once, therefore the 40 something million we currently have in circulation that would be grandfathered in will eventually be "used up".. wow. Just... wow.

I think there should be a new federal law that bans lawmakers from making any new laws until they have taken a class to learn about the things they're going to be restricting or allowing. We'd probably have far less ineffectual, ridiculous laws out there.

Freebase Dali 04-07-2013 03:19 PM

Guess everyone is not surprised at the ignorance of some of our law makers. Would have thought this would have generated some discussion. Personally, I find it pretty eye-opening to the source of our real issues.
The people writing our laws are far removed from the reality of what those laws are about. I guess that's probably common knowledge by now, but for as politically vocal and active as our generation is, you'd think this would be on the top of the list.

She most likely didn't study/understand the research that her assistants provided for her. It's a good thing that laws don't pass just because of one person's vote. The ineffectual laws that do get passed most of the time has nothing to do with the actual law itself but just favors that need to repaid for other favors behind the scenes.
