Badger recovering in shelter after being found drunk on Polish beach | World news | The Guardian
Unfortunately Wandzia (as they named the badger) didn't survive last night ... this story was hilarious up until that point.
Remember kids, alcohol really is poison.

There is a museum in North Korea that has a replica of the world's largest table scaled-down to the size of a normal table.

Similarly, The World's Largest Collection of the World's Smallest Versions of the World's Largest Things is a traveling roadside museum out of Kansas that simply should not be missed.

I'm surprised it even made it that far.

LoathsomePete 08-03-2015 12:03 PM

I think the real question is how he managed to last 2 weeks...

OccultHawk 08-06-2015 08:43 AM

Some idiotic woman from Idaho went to S Africa and murdered a giraffe.

Frownland 08-06-2015 08:48 AM

Fun fact: by definition, you can only murder humans.

It makes me feel sad seeing her standing next to a giraffe's corpse. You only have to be about three years old to know giraffes are special.

Frownland 08-06-2015 01:32 PM

What she did was a very ****ty thing to do, I agree. I'm still an apologist for words and their definitions though.

Hypersensitivity among today's college students

Stand-Up Comics Have to Censor Their Jokes on College Campuses - The Atlantic

Is it a backlash against people who find nothing offensive to find everything offensive?

Are today's 20-something set the most puritanical generation since World War One?

Does it just seem this way because of social media?

Is this generation simultaneously the most offensive and the most easily offended?

Honestly there's so many symptoms at play with all these PC-related college stories I don't think there's any one. Just from what I've read and my general experience here's a short break down of what I think is partial responsible.

Lack of maturity due to arrested development.

Growing up within an echo chamber of agreeing opinions because of the internet, i.e. I can cultivate an entire internet experience that never disagrees or challenges anything I think or say.

Outrage culture wherein if I'm angry then it means I'm paying attention and care more about something than you.

Entitlement. I dunno I might be stretching for this one a little bit but given how much university costs, there might be this sense of entitlement that things shouldn't upset me. The article kind of went into this a little bit with the resort analogy.

Honestly though, and there is absolutely no way to prove this in any way shape or form, but I think the worst thing the internet ever did was turn activism into just another fad.

I think there was faddish activism long before there were internets.

Frownland 08-24-2015 05:41 PM

Y'all North Carolinans need to learn how tall your damn truck is if you're driving it commercially. The POD people and the RV I can give a little leeway to since they're not going to be faced with that problem too often, but you have to know the height of your trailer/semi. Dumbass hicks.

Small said that would lend credibility to the historical view that Muhammad and his followers collected text that was already in circulation to fit their own political and theological agenda, rather than receiving revelations from heaven.
