From 2017: Gerald's Game, Phantom Thread, 3 Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri, A Ghost Story, Logan, Blade Runner 2049.

What's the most recent movie you've seen that you've considered worth four stars?

Interesting. I thought that it was solid enough with some very poignant moments but that it didn't do enough to separate itself from pretty much any other coming of age film that I've seen before. I feel like 12 years should have been enough to come out with something that's special in more ways than just taking 12 years to make.

OccultHawk 03-05-2018 01:26 PM

I loved Slacker when it came out and I’ve been pretty fond of Linklater ever since

Keep in mind I’m the exact demographic for Slacker

Frownland 03-05-2018 01:28 PM

Slacker definitely lives up to the hype.

And now: what the **** is wrong with these people? Do they think they're above the law? Stupid question, I know. But a ****ing subpoena is NOT a gentle request or suggestion: it's a ****ing demand! You can't ignore it just cos you don't want to go, you ****ing ****ing twat!

n a defiant CNN interview, former Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg said Monday he refuses to comply with a grand jury subpoena in the Russia investigation.

"Screw that," Nunberg told CNN's Gloria Borger. "Why do I have to go? Why? For what?"

Noth Korea to Hold Nuclear Missile Summit

This is great news, but you just know Trump is going to claim credit. I can just hear him now: "Kim backed down. Nobody faces me down and wins. People said I was wrong to adopt a hard line, but who's laughing now? I am the greatest etc."

Canada, China and the European Union have already said they would respond with tariffs of their own that could lead to billions of dollars in American export losses. Those levies would harm the farmers and business interests that the Trump administration has promised to protect and would fuel a trade fight that could undermine the president’s goal of strengthening American industry.

this **** is interesting yo

I went back and read your first post on it

Quote:

it's primarily the capitalists that benefit from globalism from a trade perspective
You’ve given us very little to respond to. Is isolationism the opposite of globalism?

Others may be more prepared to jump right in but I need some terms defined, a more specific case (steel tariffs?), who the trading partners are, who the manufactures are, who might be hurt and who might benefit and why, are you concerned about all laborers world wide, is your goal to decrease the amount of productivity, are environmental issues at play-

Give me a little more to go on about what might be good about it with some examples.

while I don't agree with the trade war rhetoric blah blah America first, something should be done to prevent the selling out of the hard fought for American jobs

Shouldn’t our top priorities be the welfare of the most exploited laborers no matter the country and environmental hazards?

Asia is very diverse. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there but it’s still my impression that Japanese and South Korean laborers are better off than their American counterparts. The Chinese obviously have it much worse. India and Bangladesh are so chaotic reform only seems possible locally and probably with bloodshed. I know pretty much nothing about Indonesia and the Philippines.

Honestly, I have no idea what kind of ****storm could be kicked off.

What do you think could happen?

Do you believe that Trump’s trade war offers that?

Even worse than the headline reads.

Quote:

"If your boyfriend says bad things to you and/or treats you wrong, that means he's acting like a n1gger. You all should not be dating all these different African-American boys because they are not worth it."

"If my daughter was dating someone who used the 'f' word, I wouldn't have any respect for that n1gger".

Armed Man Holding 3 Hostages At Yountville Veterans Home « CBS Sacramento

Wtf man. My friend's aunt is one of the hostages. We're all watching this closely, it sounds personal. My bf also works at a state facility and got some info that there was a going away party planned for today, and the suspect kept three hostages while letting the rest go. Swat is on the scene but there's not much else info yet.

Edit: the hostages are the director of the center's PTSD program, a psychologist, and a clinical worker who all treated and released the suspect two weeks ago.
