but see you are acting as if we are in a transitioning phase from exploiting animals to not exploiting them... when nothing of the sort is taking place. our exploitation has only grown more efficient over the years. there is absolutely no sign that we are moving away from it. so actually i'm calling into question how we view animals.. if you say that bestiality is equally abhorrent to the other practices i've cited then i won't really argue with you because as i have stated that is an internally consistent position. but if you take that view it means condemning bestiality as well as the other forms of animal exploitation. not seeking special pleading for the forms of exploitation which have been ingrained as cultural norms. i'm actually in the peculiar position of enjoying meat and the other exploits of animals so that i find i can't really rightfully condemn the mistreatment of animals if i am to take my own words at all seriously.

and to answer your question i would have to say no. we would not undergo a period where incarceration for joy (see: kidnapping) would become acceptable. it's not acceptable now so i think it's pretty absurd to think it would become acceptable once we found a way to stop incarcerating people.

Shtupping an animal would be senseless hedonism. Unjusitifiable on moral grounds. Unless you particularly believe that all ends are in your own satisfaction. In which case, knock yourself out. Do it on the down low and answer only to your conscience.

British law says that any type of penetration (giving, receiving) involving an animal is illegal, but doesn't mention anything about oral sex. Which is odd. Sort of like Parliament just wants to tease the animals... Those ****ards.

I can't post URL's because I haven't made enough posts, but typing 'animal rights BBC' into Google brings up an article which makes several good points for both sides of the argument.

Most interestingly, to me, is that animals themselves don't behave morally, they're not conscious in the sense we are. We adhere, knowingly, to moral codes. Having a 'right' also infers that you also must carry out a 'responsibility'. How can we give rights to animals who have no capacity for fulfilling responsibilities? It would change the meaning of a 'right'.
