He doesn't want to raise your taxes, which would inevitably go towards a growth of the welfare state and military industrial complex.

He's a loud mouth, but his ideas are still more sensible than Chaiman Hillary.
This sounds like a post made by a conservative think tank trying to be persuasive. He's not just a loud mouth, he has no idea what he's doing. He's childish and incompetent - the only reason I would vote for him is to help the US self destruct. That's the anarchist in me.

The liberal in me sees the democratic party as right wing compared to the rest of the world, and Hillary is the long thin talons of the status quo digging in - we will have to do something about that if Hillary makes it in.

Well, ya'll will. I'll literally be in Canada.

You promise? Lots of people make that claim that they are moving to Canada. You better not back down when she gets into office. You better be posting a pic of yourself sucking down some poutine and hugging a moose.

Already in Canada for my PhD, already made the decision to apply for residency based on the stellar band I became a part of here and the cool social atmosphere.

My decision to move here was not based on something as meaningless to my life as politics, but it sure is convenient that my hands will be clean :p

Poutine is ok... nothing to write home about. I saw more moose in my homestate (Alaska).

Also, I don't use the word "literally" lightly.

Alaska is your homestate? I want to move there so badly!

I need to research my options in that state.

I read through it and luckily, it seems to me that you're not really a big fan of the overall thought of voting for Trump, but you're voting for him anyway. May I ask why? I know later in the post you said:

"Normally I vote for either Libertarian or Green candidates, by the way. But it's a bit depressing, because you know that vote is wasted. "

Which I actually agree with 100%, hence why I'm putting my vote towards Hillary.

The only reason I ask is because my grandpa is a die hard Republican, and has been his whole life, and even he isn't voting for Trump. Is there like a specific reason you'd rather see Trump in office? I would also hope that you don't agree with Trump on his racist / bigoted values, since you seem like a better person than to stoop to that level.

Why I'd vote for him--if I were voting, though again, I won't be voting--was the subject of these two paragraphs:

Quote:
I like Trump's unapologetic iconoclasm--although whether he'd keep that up in office is another matter, and I like the fact that (a) he's not a career politician, and (b) he's quite experienced in business instead. I have more confidence that that combination could produce some social changes than someone who has been a career politician with a long history of Washington ties. That's just going to give us the same ol' same ol'. With Trump, maybe we'd wind up with the same ol' same ol' anyway, but I think there's more of a chance that there might be changes, and I think we need changes.

Aside from that, I've never really cared for Hillary. I wasn't a fan of Bill when he was in office, either. (Although not that I've been a fan of any president in my lifetime.) But we already had the Clintons in office for 8 years. That was enough.
Also, I don't agree that anything Trump has said is racist. That's a whole can of worms though, as it's a pet peeve of mine that people so readily interpret all sorts of stuff as racist, sexist/misogynistic, etc.
