Working harder than you should is the opposite of solidarity.

On the one hand I agree with OH but on the other certain things you don't do will just make your coworkers' day harder if you don't do them and I know full well that if a coworker not doing something made OH's day harder he'd be ready to throw a fit and forget all about what he's currently talking about. You pick and you choose what you slack off on based on whether if you had to deal with it if your coworker didn't do it it would make your shift harder. It's a slave mentality form of solidarity but if you don't help out your fellow slave while still acting like a slave then you're even less than a slave.

Sure at the end of the day you should just burn the store down and walk away whistling the Andy Griffith tune but if you're not going to do that then you might as well not ruin the day of the guy coming in behind you.

Is there a way to take a step back, and think rationally about this kind of stuff? I keep wanting to be more productive, but it's hard not to get angry at the multitude of things happening right now, and I say more stupid **** than usual when I'm mad.

Are there any charities involved in the protests, and worth donating to? If I can't be productive politically, at least I can help those who are better at it than I am.

No. Either you think emotionally and become affected and angry or you think rationally and don't care. I guess you just have to find a balance where you can feel what you need to feel while maintaining enough distance to still be constructive. Good luck with that.

I just don’t do it

You can ask anyone who’s ever worked with me

They don’t even bother to ask

“We need extra blah blah blah because blah blah...”
No reply from me just never gets done or the next guy does it. Don’t care which

Same when I taught. “I had to cover your class”

“No you didn’t. I never cover yours. Tell the school board to start paying subs a living wage.”

I pushed the intercom button and said “I’m leaving this classroom in 5 minutes and there’s 20 kids in here so you might want to send an administrator down or they’ll be unsupervised.” As long it was in my contract that it was my planning period shonuff.

Perhaps you're just making excuses for narcissism. Maybe I am brainwashed but I'm willing to give a hard no when I feel I'm being asked something unreasonable or I'm just done for the day but I'll still try to make sure I'm not ****ing over my co-workers. Sometimes you just gotta tell them to stand up for themselves and walk out but black and white thinking is for scrubs.

If every worker did what I do and have done my whole life workers would be running this ****. I might be a coward but I’ve never been afraid to walk off a job. I know people resent that so backlash is expected.

I’ve spoken out for the bullied and picked on and never NEVER treated anyone as an inferior or subordinate not even my students. I’ve rejected “leadership” and heiracrchy my entire life.

I treat work release exactly the same as the highest chef. Narcissism is the abuse of others out of a sense of superiority. I never act like that. You don’t know what the **** you’re talking about.
