I don’t know for sure but I don’t think there’s anything constitutional that would make that the case. The Republican Party can host any candidate they want but that doesn’t make his name automatically appear on the ballot.

I haven’t googled for expert speculation. I don’t know what they would do. It’s a good question. Biden versus whoever is left on the ballot? Idk.

Could also be either a lie or a convenient excuse to get out of further debates.

Trump realizes he looked like a HUGE douche on the debate Tuesday night and knows he can't help himself so he's effectively cancelling the next three weeks of public appearances. He doesn't get to embarrass himself and he also gets to tell everybody that he made it through Covid juuuuuust fine or even tout some miracle drug he took called Trump-zac and that everybody should buy some.

It's damage control. Can't tank the election if you can't go on TV and get murdered by a geriatric Joe Biden.

Maybe. I think he’s got it but who the **** knows.

If Trump kicks off before the election, then Pence becomes President.

I doubt the Republicans would put forth another candidate this close to the election.

That doesn’t necessarily mean Pence would get to ride the second term if Trump won. Does it?

He's been partaking in a slew of behaviours that could lead to infection and his age/obesity put him in a particularly vulnerable category (especially if he only sleeps for four hours a night like the legend says). tboy's persistence in bitching about things that personally impact him makes me think that he couldn't keep it in the bag if he tried.

I'm not liking how quickly detractors are taking up the concept that tboy is faking the virus, it's not that much different from the partisan lens that anti-maskers are viewing the pandemic through. I mainly just want him dead though so shut up and let me dream.

The bottom line is that the RNC would determine who the replacement candidate would be, should it come to that unfortunate situation. And Republican slates of electors in states the president won, because he remains on the ballot, would very likely follow the RNC’s recommendation.
But one last possibility to ponder: If the RNC were deeply divided, and Republican electors then did not coalesce around a single replacement candidate, there might not be a majority winner in the electoral college. In that case, the House would choose the president from among the top three vote getters in the electoral college. In that process, each state delegation gets one vote.

Yeah, it's ****ing Friday. Get out of here with that negativity.

I think it does. The Vice President becomes President and finishes the term of his former President. LBJ and Gerald Ford are two examples during my lifetime that come to mind. I'm pretty sure it's always been done that way.

Yeah. I don’t know why asked that. But I don’t think they were actually sworn in for their predecessors second term.
