I understand that to be true about cocaine but I think it’s a misleading argument. Y’all can take this or leave this but weed isn’t addictive the why I define it. The nature of addiction and the types and severity are confusing and not very well understood.

If you would please put anything else about weed addiction in another thread

I think a problem with this subject that needs to be dealt with is that it’s harder than people think to give advice without blaming the victim even with the best intentions. The hardship of the struggle needs to be addressed. I mean yeah no **** get over your anxieties. If someone breaks their neck you don’t just say yeah man you’ll feel better if you just walk. You might say, if appropriate, something like I’m really sorry about what happened but don’t completely give up. Dig as deep as you can in physical therapy.

You know?

The language in this editorial is so unhelpful. You can’t deal with this without dealing with the nature of consciousness. Once you step into the terrain where where you’re still lost in that forest that doesn’t understand that EVERYTHING about psychology is biology you’re back into religion. This misunderstanding is a barrier that has to be broken down so mental health can get out of the dark ages.

1. People who prescribe medicines that literally change people's brain chemistry as a way to improve psychological issues are probably hip to the idea.
2. It seems like you're clinging to the concept of none of the professionals understanding how psychology is a component of biology as a way to reject any non-pharmaceutical approach to improving your mental health.
3. The Guardian is trash.

I think that’s 100% fair. My hard headedness is a hindrance and I want to work on that.

OTOH, can we get some science in this mother****er? I think I have a honest justified beef that I can’t get science based care.

Meditation is good for anxiety though.

Did it once while going through really bad anxiety and it really helped.

I don't know the science behind it. Could probably google it. Probably could google it, eh? Ah well.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

I didn't say I was going to google it. I just said that I could. If I do, I will watch out for Sam Harrises though. And Jordan Petersons.

Meditation can also make anxiety worse. I meditate a pretty lot. It’s a double edged sword.

I did Sam Harris’s course bat and I think he’s really meh and totally out of his depth too

I got it for free though

I used this head space app on my phone that my therapist had me download.

It's obviously not a replacement for medication but unfortunately it's all I have. Years of refusing medication because of being misdiagnosed and prescribed has kind of come back to haunt me.

I meditated back in high school a couple times and the first time was probably the closest I ever came to becoming a better person. So much came up that I was in tears by the end but it was some beautiful catharsis and I felt like I knew how to be a better person. Then a few days later the high was over and I was back to where I was. Thinking about that now so many years later I can't help but think the monster that has been building in my subconscious for a decade and a half would turn a few tears into a panic attack. Or I just wouldn't be able to go through with it.
