Thanks man, now if only I could find a way to recognize the intelligence people claim to see in me I'd be set.

Generally speaking I try avoiding personal associations through the forum so that my comments remain more focused on the topic of discussion rather than cliquey in-jokes.

Having said that I'll Nth Vegangelica/Erica - she honestly annoyed the crap out of me when she first started posting but she's proven herself to be one of the most truly supportive and encouraging members on the site. Hope her personal situation smooths out sooner than later.

I agree with all of the above. As Necromancer said once, Vegangelica will always be MB's sweetheart.

I'd love for someone to tell me why Urban is just allowed to say whatever he wants. Considering he breaks a few rules in the process, like:

Quote:
• While debating and discussion is fine, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks, trolling, purposeless inflammatory posts or members deliberately provoking another member into committing any of these acts.

• Your avatar will NOT be larger than 175 pixels wide. We will not accept anything wider. Height isn't as important, but please attempt to keep the height to no more than 250 pixels.
I get that he's been here a long time, but that doesn't give him the right to not have to follow rules. His avatar is obviously bigger than what the set requirements are. When Conan had his avatar too big, he was told to remove it, but when Urban uses a bigger avatar, it goes unnoticed.

I'd also love to know why he's allowed to say things like this:

Quote:
Who the hell are you?
That for one is not a very warm welcome to a new member. I don't see how noobs are meant to stick around when he can just run around like he does. Also,

Quote:
If there was such a site called Musicdiscussionwithretards.com I'm beginning to think it closed last week.
Again, calling out the new members. How is the community supposed to grow with comments like that.

I have kept my mouth shut since i've been here, but his attitude is not healthy to the forum. I also hope this post doesn't just get deleted, i'm speaking my mind about a member, mod or not. He shouldn't have the privelage he thinks he has because he's been here a long time.

You really don't get it, do you? It's not the avatar that's the issue, it's the fact that regardless of guidelines or rules, he can just do whatever the **** he wants and never seems to have to apologize or fix the problem. There's no reason all the other mods should have to follow a guideline, yet he doesn't have to. For some reason, people have just allowed him to be privileged around here, and quite frankly, it's annoying that people like you and some others around here seem that sucking his dick will put you on his good side.

Whether he breaks the rules or not, I think he adds more to this place by way of his quirkiness than half the other members of this site combined. I care more about the site itself than rules that, frankly, don't need to be followed to the letter since this is the ****ing internet and who cares? Besides, most people who can't take a little crap from some random dude on the internet without running off to go cry in their room tend to be faceless and pointless members of a forum anyway.

Probably because without Urban this forum wouldn't resemble anything it currently does, and he's contributed more than you could in a lifetime. I don't give a **** if I'm on his good or bad side, he's earned the respect of those of us who remember what MB was like and what it has become.

This. Though I'm still butthurt at Urban for wanting me banned so badly before, I can't deny the guy is pretty much the face of MB. Personally, I get more annoyed by his lamentations for the good old days than I do his insults, cause I know he's not serious about them.

I think the rules should be modified that in order to insult someone, you have to do it in a funny way. That way Urban's not breaking any 'rules', and he can't get called out for them.

The ironic thing about posts like these is that they seem so bitter. You'll rip on Ki for "crying", yet he's actually being constructive in his criticism. You're the one who's only crying here. I think Urban can defend himself and doesn't need you to act butthurt towards any criticism of his actions.

Personally, I love Urban and think he's a great asset to a site and community which owes him a lot. Still, I agree with Ki that mods shouldn't troll newbs and, as I was the one to complain about Conan's avatar, of course I think Urban's avatar should be within the limits as well. I agree that there should be some flexibility regarding rules, but I feel mods should put forth a good example and when exercising his "right" to troll, he should do it towards people who know him rather than newbs.

This is generally speaking and completely disregarding context, though. I'll admit that if a newb was sufficiently douchy, I would care less about mods trolling him or her.

That doesn't excuse the fact that he's supposed to be setting an example for new members of the community. If he doesn't follow the rules around here, the new members notice that they can say whatever they want, but than they get in trouble for it. I don't see how that's very "structured" in terms of newcomers.
