NIN - Broken
NIN - The Fragile
The Breeders - Pod
Portishead - Dummy
Husker Du - Everything Falls Apart

That is a gorgeous album.

GravitySlips 05-18-2008 02:52 PM

cabang those were good purchases, although there are better Husker albums than that one. still cool though.

cabangbangq 05-18-2008 02:59 PM

Cheapest one I could find. I have 12 bucks, and I'm going on a Rasputin run soon. Any reccomendations? I'm into Jane's Addiction, NIN, Soul Coughing, Pixies stuff.

Dinosaur Jr. "You're Living All Over Me"

Piss Me Off 05-18-2008 03:03 PM

Sonic Youth, Pavement and Mclusky if you haven't heard them already.

cabangbangq 05-18-2008 03:07 PM

Have one Sonic album and a Mclusky, but I haven't listened to them for a while. It was probably during a period when my dad was trying to turn me onto that music and I rejected anything he reccomended.

Its different but so so brilliant. A really great dance song, even better in a club.

Wow, your dad has cool taste. SY - Daydream Nation is essential and Do Dallas by Mclusky is incredible as well.

In a sense, not really. They were still very dancey songs in the same way, they just were more guitar orientated rather than synth. Bands have made bigger departures in the past.

cabangbangq 05-18-2008 07:10 PM

I think we have The Difference Between Me And You Is.... by Mclusky

Very funny songs dealing with the political happenings of 1965. Even so, alot of the subject matter can be applied to today's world.

Picked up the new Spiritualized a Best Buy yesterday for 10 bucks

Pretty solid album, J's voice has definitely gotten worse, but musically and lyrically it's great like the other Spiritualized albums. It will be on my Best of 2008 list.

Anyway, I haven't bought an album in a while and I was all amped up to get one last night, but found out that what I thought was a music shop was just the support office for the franchise chain. I wish there were more cheap music shops in this country. :(

Latest Acquisitions:
Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity
The Cardiacs - Heaven Born And Ever Bright
Charles Mingus - Black Saint and the Sinner Lady
Joshua Redman - Spirit of the Moment

They're far too good to be called britpop, to be fair.

sweet_nothing 05-31-2008 04:51 PM

what? all though i don't get the term britpop to be honest i mean Oasis and Blur sound nothing alike.

I think its a blanket term for all the british guitar bands that were successful at that point, they don't have to sound similar.

sweet_nothing 05-31-2008 04:57 PM

oh but still good bands

It's not a genre , it was a movement.
