It's just weird that you used KC as an example.
Even when they were using keys, it was mostly some mellotron. They never even had a full time keyboard player or were notable for a lot of skill in that department. (Of course there was Keith Tippett, but he was more of a guest musician.)

The example was more for the discussion of progressive rock that tied into my opinion. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm just glad about every opportunity to talk about KC.

This might actually be a popular opinion, U2 really went to **** after all that you can't leave behind. And also, whilst I'm here, that Mary J Blige cover of One was an utter monstrosity

I love Bach's solo organ pieces much more than his symphonies. The same goes for Beethoven's piano sonatas being more interesting than his own symphonies.

The Art of Fugue is his best work, but it has an open score so it could go either way. I really like it with a string quartet though.

This isn't exactly a unique opinion, but I never cared about The Beatles, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin or Lou Reed. Honestly most classic rock goes over (under?) my head.

Also, both Tool and Meshuggah are unbearably repetitive and Oasis are just pure sonic torture. Is it just me or is the chorus in Wonderwall proof that he can't sing at all?

[EDIT] One of the oldest posts in this thread brought up an old nemesis of mine: The idea that debut albums are usually the best. I disagree completely with this! I'd argue that artists often get better with age and learn to write and perform with more nuance and intelligence. Debut albums are mostly - at best - rough statements of intent that are sure to be eclipsed by subsequent releases in terms of depth, subtlety, production quality and variety of expression.

This thread is very therapeutic.

I think Meshuggah are great, I find what they do rhythmically very unique and engrossing.

And I wish I saw it too, but the only song of theirs I can make it through to the end without falling asleep is Bleed. That one does admittedly boast an impressive groove.
