[EDIT] One of the oldest posts in this thread brought up an old nemesis of mine: The idea that debut albums are usually the best. I disagree completely with this! I'd argue that artists often get better with age and learn to write and perform with more nuance and intelligence. Debut albums are mostly - at best - rough statements of intent that are sure to be eclipsed by subsequent releases in terms of depth, subtlety, production quality and variety of expression.

This thread is very therapeutic.
I agree with pretty much everything here.

I only like him a little, does that count?

How about this one: I strongly prefer Waits' "boring" piano songs over his harsh, freak-show tunes. Small Change is still the best album I've heard from him.

[EDIT] I'm new here and I should remember to quote. I know, I know.

I like Tom Waits a lot but I never find myself wanting to listen to his music.

Western music would be far better if they didn't get all caught up in that hoity toity twelve tone scale.

Would you pay me money not to play him in plug?

On an unrelated note, I just thought up a great business plan.
