He has no appreciation for abrasive, avant garde, and experimental music. He still has good taste but it's comfined. Who cares?

Around that time I was into a lot of fusion stuff like The Dixie Dregs, Return to Forever, Tony Williams, Alphonse Mouzon, Weather Report, Return to Forever, Holdsworth, etc.
Could you answer my question por favor?

Then you write misleadingly with your use of the term post punk.

Have you heard Dolphy's Out to Lunch!? It has Tony Williams on drums and is some of the best avant garde jazz albums ever

Just checked out some samples and am downloading the album to my iTunes. Love that style of music.

Out to Lunch is probably my all-time favourite jazz album. Not that I'm all that knowledgable when it comes to that genre in particular, but it's just so ****ing good from top to bottom.

You guys should check out this album for a more modern take on jazz fusion.

Improvision - Alex Machacek | Songs, Reviews, Credits | AllMusic

The entire album was 100% improvised. Guys sat in a room together and just jammed and magic happened.

Frowny, you love me when I'm baked.
Prog isn't "about" complexity. It's about transcending the rock genre. I think Pink Floyd did that in their own unique way.

However, I think they'd be called post-rock if they came out today.
