That's true, everything musically is.. and can be considered as being derivative of certain genres if you want to be technical. But I have to disagree "the reverse can be (sometimes) necessarily true" within certain eras of a particular band and artist career. I sometimes comment on my own intuition and opinion instead of Wikipedia. Just talking out-loud, not based on any facts, just my personal opinion.

(Rap Metal/Rock or Rapcore) Sometimes bordering on the Funk Rock genre.

I am just giving an example of my own personal opinion, nothing more. I'm not trying to change the category and label of any certain genre.

Genres sometimes evolve and do not necessarily sound the same as their origin, (derivative) yes.

I personally do not consider Linkin Park as having the same sound and style as Disturbed or Korn for example. Maybe P.O.D., Saliva, Limp Bizkit , and so on. (That's all I'm saying)..

I was just listening to them. I think I'm in love. Also truly digging Anacrusis at the moment as well.

For some reason I keep stumbling on some list or other that has War and Pain as one of the top thrash albums.

I find Jesus in Mary Chain's early work to be incredibly dull (I haven't looked into their later stuff yet). All I see is a bunch of amateurish rock musicians composing average post-punk songs and layering them with noisy/distorted guitar riffs.

They helped create a genre (shoegaze), though, so I do have some respect for them. Plus, I enjoyed their cover of Can's "Mushroom."

They're not one of my favourite bands but I certainly enjoy listening to them. I wouldn't say their songs are average, they can write some really beautiful bittersweet songs with memorable hooks as well as loud and nihilistic songs, but that's my perspective. You could call them amateurish rock musicians I guess but they're not exactly trying to be Yes, in their early days they were trying to channel the spirit of The Velvet Underground and punk and had a very minimalistic and simple approach. They had no real interest in musicianship, former bass player Douglas Hart used to play with only two strings. Besides I love the sound of the guitars on Psychocandy.

Their debut Psychocandy is really the only album that features a barrage of noise, their sound was much cleaner after that and focused more on songwriting rather than noise. Darklands is probably my favourite as well as it has some of their most memorable songs but Honey's Dead is a great album as well and retained some shoegaze traits. Automatic is ok but is certainly far from their best, some of the songs even sound like Darklands out-takes. Their last two albums Stoned & Dethroned and Munki are not really worth looking into, Stoned & Dethroned may feature guest vocals from Hope Sandoval but don't be fooled, it's a miscalculated attempt to go Americana. By the time of Munki they had run out of ideas.

I felt I was a bit harsh with my judgments of their music... so I decided to listened to their compilation, Barbed Wire Kisses. There's much more variety there, and it wasn't as monotonous as their debut album (which, I admit, is growing on me a little bit). They're certainly not a bad band, but they're no where near as amazing as their fans make them out to be.

Anyways... I'm going to give Darklands a spin. I hope I won't be disappointed.

I think Ozzy Osbourne himself makes better music than with Black Sabbath earlier

This is a bit off-topic, but... why do you hate jazz, Jazzhater? Or is your name not meant to be taken seriously and simply as a joke?

That's a joke) I'm not a jazz fan, but I can stand it and sometimes even enjoy it
