The difference is that Tull still sound unique while so many bands have copied The Stooges and done a better job that they just don't really stand out to me. They're just a more rowdy version of the garage bands that were around at that time.

That's only my opinion of their early work though, Raw Power is excellent, James Williamson definitely kicked things up a notch.

Most of Tull's albums from the late 80's onwards have had their fair share of Dire Straits about them. The Stooges were just a Rock N Roll band and played rowdy Rock you can get drunk to and kick back and yes I am a Tull fan before you start.

I wouldn't say, most. The comparison to Dire Straits from the late 80's onwards is largely unfair.

Most mainstream pop music is acceptable.
Scott Weiland is kind of a musical genius.
Listening to an album over and over again only makes you like it more because it becomes familiar.

in fact, i kinda like mainstream pop. lady gaga's music reminds me of 90's dance tracks, and 90's dance music was my favorite as a three year old. she's not my favorite and I don't own any of her albums (digital or physical) but her music is nostalgic to me.

and I don't really mind the rest, it's just overplayed or mediocre.

I feel the nostalgia too. And I listen to indie pop music and 60s pop music but sometimes, I can't help it. I just want to listen to Ke$ha or even old Brittany Spears.......I am a heathen.

this is why it's called mainstream pop. it's formulaic and unoffensive.

- Big Star is the best band of the 70s
- The Velvet Underground isn't overrated
- Is This It was the best record of the noughties
I'm kinda down with some of this.
