Is this just a random statement of yours related to Nirvana? Because I never made any comparison to Nirvana here with either the Bowie or the KC album.

eh, through it all, I thought you were trying to reinforce the concept of Nirvana popularizing/exposing things. I doubt 90% of Nirvana's fans, especially hardcores, would get into Crimson.

Still, Red is an exceptional album.

Not at all, as great as I think Nirvana are, I`m the first to admit that the amount of garbage bands that they and Pearl Jam have helped to inspire is endless. Creed, Nickelback, Matchbox 20 and Bush must rank as four of the worst offshoots of these two bands.

Most of King Crimson`s material is for a musically eduacted ear and Red the jewel in the crown.

I enjoy some Crimson. Though I find prog-rock to be a pretensious and mostly laughable type of music, they are one of the few I can stand.

if more were like Crimson and less like say Yes, I may be like it more though.

I cannot find myself liking anything but court of the crimson king and the track 'one time'.
Is there an album I should check out?

I love that album as well, "Epitaph" in paticular I think is a great song (which is also where the name of the Epitaph Records came from oddly)... I have listened to a few others and they do not do it for me all the same. "In the Wake of Poseidon" was the second one i listened to, cause I found it for $10 on vinyl and having loved ITCotCK I thought I would give it a listen, was alright, kinda of like the first album continued but not as memorable.

"Red" would probably be the other one you shouls check out.

If you like their debut album, their second album "In the Wake of Poseidon" is very similiar. Before listening to "Red" listen to both "Larks Tongues in Aspic" and "Starless and Bible Black" Because "Red" is part of a trilogy of albums of which these two are the first part.

The general line-up on these three albums is:

John Wetton- Bass, vocals
Robert Fripp- Guitar
Bill Bruford- Drums

This line-up is the stuff of rock legend!

At least there would be a few percents in there. "Red" (the song) is quite grungy. (So obviously King Crimson are to blame for the invention of grunge).

Or you can blame Black Sabbath for inventing the genre which was renamed 'metal', 'stoner rock', 'doom rock', and 'grunge' depending on the time period, and location. Or, in Nirvana's case, you can call it 'Melvins'.

Calling 'Red' A grunge song is ridiculous, anyway. The only similarity is the fact it uses distorted guitar.
