Led Zep 4 normally comes out as best in most polls probably followed by Led Zep 2, then 1 or 3 are the next most popular.

And Houses of the Holy? That is up there too, for me - only bettered by Physical Graffiti.

I thought that for a while too, for me they're pretty much equally great. But I listen to PG more these days.

I don`t think HOTH is a great album, it good but nothing special, wheras PG is one of the great double albums of the era.

I like the Beatles but do not understand why they are worshiped. They have their gems but they are pretty generic most often.

Maybe the harmonies? I've wondered that myself, what about the music being made then is so revered.

Without re-writing one of the countless books that has been written on the subject...

Basically, they changed the landscape of popular music in just 8, more like 5-6, years. Ask me to name the individual elements of that change and we'll be here all day. It wasn't just the music: it was the attitude, the product and the influence. It's why the Beatles go beyond music and enter into pop culture and even world history.

The Beach Boys could sing circles around the Beatles.

The Beatles are overrated, indeed. However, I do think they deserve a point for no matter how popular, and rich they got they seemed to take their music, and the writing of it, seriously. Even when they wrote something horrendous(Yellow Submarine), they seemed like they loved making, and performing it.

Unlike most popular acts, they didn't just pick a sound, and start phoning it in. They weren't really afraid of taking risks.

Terence Hill, as recently confirmed during an interview to an Italian TV talk-show, was offered the role but rejected it because he considered it "too violent". Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
