I actually prefer the thinner production of the debut to the heavier, fuzzier production of Paranoid and onward. It had a bluesy, sinister, more atmospheric quality that they never had again. Especially on "Black Sabbath". Now that is a penultimate song. I just recently found out that riff is called "tritone" and I now have to go and find out just what the hell is up with that. Anything that causes the spine to tingle like that must be explored further.

Agreed.... although Planet Caravan is one of my favorite songs by them.

Tri-tone is also known as Tonus Diabolicus because back in the day it was considered so unpleasant as to be the devil's tone haha. Here's some pretty heavy worship of it:

Some people actually call the tritone the "Devil's Interval". That's pretty metal. I agree on the production sounding better on Sabbath's debut, and I'm not really a fan of the fuzzy guitars on the following albums (especially Paranoid and Vol. 4), but I think that say, Master of Reality, had a much better flow and the songs were generally better.

Grab a guitar.

Put your index finger on some random fret on one of the lowest five strings.
On the string that's one higher than the one you're on, put your middle finger on the fret just one semitone above the note your index finger is on. play the two notes together.

it sounds like shit.

I'm not sure if this is as much unpopular as controversial and sweeping but I'd say that Animal Collective are the best, most important band of the 2000s with no other band coming close.

GTA taught me that if you play Don johnson's 'Heartbeat' song over and over you'll end up liking it.

You know what? not a bad singer.

The chorus is pretty cheesy but the pre chorus is actually kinda good.

Is that Julian Casablancas? I love The Strokes but they don't have that experimental, innovative edge that other bands do. Room On Fire is a 5/5 album and like my favourite record that I own but nah, I prefer Animal Collective.

From playing Saint's Row 4 I've learned that if it starts playing when you jump onto a launching nuclear warhead to stop it from hitting Washington DC "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith becomes not awful.
