I'd go as far to say 75% of Pink Floyd's material is dreadfully dull.

Pink Floyd has only been considered a pioneer artist during the last 20 years or so. He didn't seem nearly as popular during the 70s and 80s as he currently is now.
My opinion might be a little biased but I've seen him as being a little over rated during the past 20 years or so.

Well, Pink Floyd is a band, not a solo artist.

Talking

1. The Beatles peaked with Revolver. It's all downhill after that.
2. Kiss has toured non-stop for nearly 40 years and still neither Paul Stanley nor Gene Simmons can play their instruments for ****.
3. Kanye is a lightweight. Calling his music Rap is like calling PF Chang's Chinese food.
4. It's almost impossible these days to tell the difference between a pop song and a soul/R&B song. Where does Miley Cyrus end and Pharrell begin? It's all one big glop of auto-tuned nonsense.
5. Greenday sucks and they always did.
6. Metallica is the least metal of the big four metal bands. One really good album (M.O.P.) doesn't make up for all the crap they've done since.
7. The Boomtown Rats where a great New Wave band.
8. Mummer is XTC's best album.
9. Tupac and Biggie had one thing in common - they were both overrated.
10. The 1970's wasn't the worst decade for music. That would be the 1990's.

I'll let you know if I think of some more.

Another thing to keep in mind, and this goes back to the point I made about making more money for your record label, is that the more you produce for your company, and the more popular you become, the more likely it is that your style is going to be emulated. Your label is more likely to invest in up-and-comers who are influenced by your style.
agree to disagree I guess. Impact has more depth than just popularity imo.
