I don't think they were grunge then or now. I liked whatever the lead single off the new album was, but they should have changed their name. I never assumed I'd get Facelift AIC back, and so I only heard what was played for me. To that end, they didn't better than I thought they would. But it didn't match up to JoF, FL, or even Boggy Depot.

I wasn't pleased with the production. It was too over-thought in attempt to match with 'modern standards'. Jar of Flies, for examples, was produced, and written in 7 days according to legend. It was impulsive emotion, and that's basically what made that band work.

They're just a tad burned out, I think. I mean, I might as well be listening to Godsmack, Seether, or all of the post 1999 'alternative' garbage because it sounds the same to their new album to me.

Classifying bands on the basis of their fashion style, fonts used, and lyrical content is not a strictly metal trend. And while there is no shortage of idiots in metal promoting this; this has far more to do with suburban Punk idiots latching on to metal and doing the same **** that makes contemporary punk so godawfully unbearable.

"No, it's powerviolence."
"No, it's veganarchist crust!"
"No dude, they're d-beat!"

....

And what do these idiots do when they latch onto metal? "Trollmetal!", "Pagan blackmetal!", "eco-feminist blackmetal!", "funeral drone metal!", etc, etc, etc. ****ing hippie punk scum, they ruin everything they touch.

I like that album as well. Some great songs on that one.

The last part I can agree with you on. I don't think Pearl Jam are the greatest or anything, but I definitely like them. Then again, if you like something, you have to at least think it's good enough to be likeable, right?

Out of curiosity Urban, what have you actually listened to by Pearl Jam? And another random question, what's your favorite Black Sabbath album?
