Assagai

Pretty chill afro-funk that has a cool cover of "Hey Jude" on it.

By the Time I get to Phoenix

Maybe it's my limited exposure to hip hop like this over the last few years but I REALLY dig this. It's got a lot of hype right now and I think for the most part it's lived up to that. Great production on this.

London Calling - The Clash
Recently had my first trip to London, ****ing loved it, cool ass city. Came back, and saw a buddy with a "London Calling" poster, looked cool, and checked out the album. It was fire. Not gonna be a top ten for me, but definitely favorite right now. And me being stuck in a rural college in California this album is really pulling me to the Bri'ish

DJ Seinfeld - Mirrors

Solid solid house music

Various maniacs - Brown Acid - The Twelfth Trip - Proving that there were a lot of bands during the Late 60's-Late 70's who tried to break on through only to just be able to jam with the amps at 11 (if working properly), play a few dives, have someone in the back of a van or some cheap rate hotel, and be able to blast out at least a side that melted every MOR slop in it's wake (even if it was only on sound alone and not chart positions) while winding up forgotten outside of a few collectors and local fans, this keeps up the mood set on the first collection. I thought that my first experiences with these albums a couple of years back would fade away, but they wound up being on my turntable on a regular basis - maybe it's relating to the experience of being in a band who aimed for the top only to ride into obscurity (me, it was Punk-related with only a few months and a few shows then nothing), but these collections are very good.

Exo 12-17-2021 09:54 AM

Album of the year for me I think.

rostasi 12-17-2021 01:24 PM

Yeah, uh, huh. Loving this album.

rostasi 12-17-2021 07:13 PM

This is hard to pin down - and that's why I like it a lot.
A little bit Jade Warrior, a little bit Sheila Chandra, a little bit
Beach Boys, a little bit Shoukichi Kina & Champloose, and more,
meeting in Thailand, Okinawa, Mali, and other "exotic" lands without
having the albatross of "world music" hanging around its neck.
Good to see this one and only recording from this group re-released.

I checked this 8 CD set out from the NYPL. A hard to find box set (not even streaming anywhere) that I'm ripping for posterity. Very good Mozart, btw.

An upload of the famous clarinet concerto which comes with the set -

Good day. I'll tell you that I like your musical taste and in some aspects it is even similar with you and me. It would be interesting to hear more songs that you listen to on a regular basis. In general, in my life I am engaged in the creation of business cards. Just recently I found a cool service for this - business card maker. It is unrealistically convenient and the result is stylish material.

^ Thanks for introducing me to this album, Tristan :thumb: I just loved the opening track, and my next favourite was Mirrors. I felt some of the other tracks could have been shorter, or better still, could have been developed more. Courage, seems to be an example of this failing, though approached in the right mood, it could also be considered the best track on the album....time for me to replay it all.

Yes, Marie Monday, Juana Molina's albums are so good: the albums after Segundo are also excellent: Son, Wed 21, Halo. She just kept getting better and better.

On Youtube, this Hossam Ramzy album is split up into 12 seperate tracks, so this is just the title track:-

Strictly speaking, the album I'm digging has a less cheesy cover and 8 tracks instead of the twelve on Youtube, but to be honest 8 tracks are enough of this music, which is both beautiful but rather insistant to my mind.

Moolah - a treasure from my younger days.
Here's another one from '74 too.

Finally got around to watching/listening to this live performance. Really loved it! Regis has just been getting better and better since he came back to his main moniker, Lou Reed covers, industrial dirges, rubbery dark techno tracks, and post punk detours. This release encapsulates the absolute best parts.

The man is an old head, but he doesn't dwell in the past either.

Danses et rythmes de la Turquie D'Hier À Aujourd'hui Les Mogol (1971, Concert Hall)

Well known French-Turkish landmark lp from the 60s. The opening track is a killer. Not all tracks come off as effectively but it's a nice throwback overall.

Reflektor by Arcade Fire, a hidden masterpiece. Especially Afterlife and Porno.
