Stone Temple Pilots or Pearl Jam (great songs, single, albums, fan)

Yes. I have only listened to community radio over the years and have rarely watched music shows on TV. I have tried to always do my own research on music. It is just more fun and, just quietly, I like to not be told what I should and should not listen to. Both these groups, and there are plenty more, have passed me by. The funny thing is that I do eventually hear a famous group and wonder why they passed me by. Example being Blur. Bloke I knew insisted that I listen to 13. He never usually pushed albums so I thought I had better. It was a revelation. Brilliant record. So I ended up giving a few more Blur albums a listen and found them very enjoyable to the point that I rate them highly and even got hold of Gorillaz.

Well, I'm not much of a fan of either Pearl Jam or Stone Temple Pilots (I really dislike STP in fact) but if you care about music history at all like I do you may want to give both of them a bit of a listen at some point since they're two of the biggest rock bands of the 90s and were, for better or worse, very influential.

Yeah I understand their influence. Like I said just kinda all passed me by. But I should at some stage give them a listen. Just too much out there.

STP is on the radio all the time, just turn one on and you'll find them.

I must admit I thought Plush was the most awesome song ever when I first heard it.

God, I hated it from the first moment I heard it. And it only went downhill from there as I subsequently heard it millions of times.

I was pretty obsessed with Core in the mid 90's and still rate it as one of the best albums ever (I can't really be objective at this point, I've heard it too many times), but I haven't heard any of their other albums...

I remember being really unpleasantly surprised with "Sour girl" (I totally skipped Purple and judging by Interstate love song, which I've just heard for the first time, I guess I'm not missing much). I think Sour girl pretty much put me off from exploring their other output...I just didn't want anything to ruin the brilliance of Core...:\

Edit: I'm just listening to Plush and I can't believe how much they sound like Pearl Jam. Why didn't I notice this before?

Crackerman is still a kick ass song...(:
