I think Miles Davis should be next nomination, no one representin' jazz, blues, or country right now

Mr Waits is in! Next up from Alfred

The Mars Volta

Quote:
I don't give a rat's ass if they're new (sorta) band, or if their music doesn't qualify as "influential", they've been producing excellent, unique music since 2003. Some of the most energetic and complex stuff I've heard. They're definitely a band that will be remembered, and I think it's safe to say that The Mars Volta are quite well-liked here. Vote for them or heads will roll.

I voted no. Not saying they're bad but I think they're too new of a band to belong in a hall of fame. There hasn't be enough time to have a frame of reference for their longevity or level of influence.

Good point, but I nominated them because I feel that they stand out, and have become well-known as one of, if not the greatest progressive rock band of this day and age. They're a fine example of quality music from the 2000's.

However, Porcupine Tree didn't get through, so...

What I hate is that they're going to do better then ATDI, when ATDi are so much better in my eyes. I'm very torn on this anyway, because I think they're okay, but they're music definatley gets tiresome.

I can never grow tired of this band. Their energy and complexity stuns me.

I do like At The Drive-In better, but The Mars Volta does more with their music, I think.

It's a yes, even if it's just for Omar's skillz. He's one of my all-time favorite guitarists.
