The whole point of my responses is to tell you there are bands out there with just as much credibility as Led Zeppelin that WILL be remembered. Don't use Nickelback/Lady Gaga as your base of comparison.
There are bands out there I agree, just not as much IMO as previous generations of music and I still don't think a band coming out of our generation will ever be held in the same regard as band's from the earlier generations. Music today seems water down and similar, it doesn't leave a lasting impression on me, at least not the same as the music that interests me. No doubt there are bands coming out today that are talented and unique, I like to think I am a part of one, but with how the world has evolved, and how our generation of consumers go through music, I think it's going to become tougher and tougher for artists to hang around for 25 years or even 40 years after their creation and maintain an audience, like the Zepp's, Hendrix's and Rush's have.

I've never heard a Christian rock band before, the genre is just something I really don't want to explore. I bet I'm missing out..

Sounds like a daring mix.

Are you talking about 'Christian rock' as an actual genre or just alternative/rock music that happens to be singing about religious things?

The actual genre. There are actually a number of styles that throw in the religious side of things....though I don't really like any of it "Christian rock" itself annoys me the most.

That's pretty much what I was getting at. So regardless of how the music sounds, aside from the genre 'Christian rock', you're mostly turned off by the lyrical content?

I know of bands who, when I was told were Christian/some other religion, I was surprised. Take MewithoutYou, for instance. I wouldn't guess they were religious by lyric alone. While that's only an example, the point I'm making is how religious does it have to be for you to not like it?

Just curious.

Just when it gets really preachy. I'm not sure I want to start a religious debate or anything...so sorry beforehand if I am getting offensive.

I can handle bands where the lyrics are still poetic and I can attach my own personal meaning to it. When they start directly talking about god, jesus, the bible...etc...that's when I find it hard to listen to it. Not that I would bash people who follow those beliefs, I just find it hard to listen to music that I don't personally agree with.

But Christian rock really annoys me and aside from the content, it tells me how bad a person's music taste is.
