indeed

what do you suggest to someone with over 3000 unique bands on his last.fm page

for Jackhammer:

Thrash Til' Death: Compilation of Japanese Thrash

i know you like the thrash metal....but i did not see any Japanese thrash in your charts.....this compilation highlights just four bands Lip Cream, Gauze, Outo, and Systematic Death all of whom have quite extensive catalogues....this compilation defiantly leans towards the punk side of thrash but i think you may still enjoy it

Bob, I will listen to your recommendation next, definitely. RVCA sent me this first and I ended up getting to it first, but you have not been ignored!

I thought that this was a really good album. I'm a big fan of brooding albums, and this was beautiful. I imagine that if Wilco were to collaborate with the National, it would be something like this, haha. Blue Pail Fever was a stand out track, and the cover of Ain't No Sunshine was a powerful take. I'm a fan. Definitely going to explore this discography.

And now I pass on another rec, for Zero1986:

Holly Miranda - The Magician's Private Library

I know you enjoy quite a lot of dream pop, and this is a lovely album that takes a lot of cues and I think you'll enjoy.

Well here's what I sent jackhammer:

GNR - Defeitos Especiais

Portuguese post-punk, I've raved about the band in my thread. If anyone's interested just let me know.

For Dayvan Cowboy

The Knife in collaboration with Mt. Sims and Planningtorock - Tomorrow, In a Year

This is an ambient/electronica album written as the soundtrack to an opera based on Darwin's Origin of Species. I think you'll enjoy the obvious aspects to the album, but that the opera will be something different for you.

for Pedestrian:
DEVO - Duty Now For The Future

Haha, I have always known Whip It, and as a result, never thought I would be listening to this band with the serious intent of enjoying them, until I came to this website and saw a number of people appreciating their work. I told myself to give them a shot, but hadn't had a starting point, so this was a welcome recommendation. Duty Now was surprising, but without dispelling the humour I expected from Whip It. This was a fun album with lots of gems (favourite being Strange Pursuit). This band is more to me than my high school teachers dressed up in blue wigs performing with whisks to Whip It at a pep rally now!

Good call! I would have picked that one for Dayvan too. I hope she likes it.

that sounds dreadful....no wonder you stayed away....Strange Pursuit is a great song...and yeah there are many sides to Devo's music....but all of them have a great quirky sense of humor which just makes them fun....glad you liked them

another spud to the pile

Well I certainly didn't expect anyone to send me anything so thanks for sending me stuff

Although I did think the idea was to send music outside of people's usual remit (not talking about what I was sent here BTW)?

OK. For Bob. we have quite similar tastes according to Last.FM but I don't see a huge amount of singer songwriters so you get this:

A singer songwriter with nods to avant garde, electronica, folk and post rock. Certainly unique.

For Unchained Ballad:

It's Spanish (sorry!) but it's a fantastic Post Hardcore album and one of my faves. Just hope you haven't heard it before.

More to come for other members.
