When I buy new socks, I mark one of them with a permanent marker so I know which one is for the right foot. Because I hate when you put socks on and your pinky toe is all swimming in space and your big toe is all tight and claustrophobic. There I said it.

I've honestly never noticed a difference between left and right socks.

I genuinely have never seen a pair of socks, barring patterns, where there is a difference between left and right. What the hell kind of socks are you people wearing?

Like... here's some socks. They look pretty interchangeable to me.

I do something similar.
I don't wash my underpants so when I put them on I always know the skidmark goes to the back.
