Don Wilson, the Ventures’ Co-Founder and Rhythm Guitarist, Dead at 88

The last of the original lineup. Lots of Ventures vinyl & CD's in my music collection. I'll be spinning some today. R.I.P.

Ian McDonald

Quote:
Ian McDonald, the multi-instrumentalist who was a founding member of both King Crimson and Foreigner, has died at the age of 75.

McDonald’s death was confirmed via press release, which noted that the rocker “passed away peacefully on February 9, 2022 in his home in New York City, surrounded by his family.”

McDonald co-founded King Crimson in 1968, alongside Robert Fripp, Michael Giles, Greg Lake and lyricist Peter Sinfield. The famed prog-rock group’s debut album, In the Court of the Crimson King, was released in 1969. McDonald’s fingerprints were all over the LP, with saxophone, flute, clarinet, Mellotron, harpsichord, piano, organ, vibraphone, backing vocals and production among his contributions.

F*ck.

That really sucks, he was a big part of what made that first Crimson album so fantastic.

That McDonald and Giles LP is worth checking out too, it's a strong contender for most laid back prog album ever.

If I had to pick one King Crimson album as my favorite from the band, It would be the debut album. All these years later it still blows my mind when I give it a listen and it still holds up well to the test of time.
